Black Soldier Fly Larvae Bin

Honestly I just think it's a bit expensive for what it is. Given the expense of prototyping and Manufacturing such a specialized product I can sympathize with how much it costs.

I was excited to buy this in the hopes of attracting black soldier flies in order to feed the larvae to my chickens. We bought it last year. It was exciting to hear the larvae munching through the compost. It's the best design we've seen so far, but it still needs to have some kinks worked out. The size is small for the price. The side bins (that hold the larvae as they climb out) don't stay against the side of the main compartment (they're help on by one skewer). The lids don't lock down so varmints (and my dogs) enjoy opening them and snacking on the larvae and compost. The hose that drains liquid from the main compartment is a thoughtful addition, but it needs to be on a downhill slant.

Might want to lock it down if your dog is good at getting into things, just found mine in ours.

This has been one of the best investments I've made. We have chickens, so having a supply of BSF larvae is awesome! We put all of our food scraps in the bin, as well as any food we let accidentally go bad.. And now we don't feel so guilty about it, because our chickens will benefit! It's easy to use, and the customer service has been great, if you should need it. We loved it so much we got a second one for my mom's house, and now we get double the chicken treats!
