A Bowie archivist delight
Bowie is my all-time favorite artist, and while I COULD cross reference everything in this set against Pegg's The Complete David Bowie, and online resources, and see just how complete it is, but I haven't (yet) and I'm happy with this set. Sound quality is all over the place, but that's to be expected given much of the source material. It was a joy to listen to one of the greatest artist's most-celebrated work in an "under the microscope" way. I have the similar box sets for Space Oddity, Man Who Sold the World, and Hunky Dory, and it's a similar experience. The included book is a nice read (mostly things I already knew, but it was nice to spend time reading about a focused period of time in Bowie's career) and the facsimile of the lyric notebook is a nice touch and worth a glance-through, but not critical.

Great set!
This is a great set for people who like early David Bowie.I have listened to the first 5 CDs. There are multiple versions of many of the songs. Disc 6 is a blu ray disc. I haven't listened to that one yet.

Some initial impressions.
This collection is not for the casual listener. Even diehard fans may have their doubts about this one when they hear the first couple of tracks (early rough working versions of 'Moonage Daydream' and 'Hang On To Yourself'). But that's just the teaser. Hold onto your seats because the next few tracks on Disc 1 make this release worthwhile. An early recording of 'Lady Stardust' with just vocals and piano is strikingly beautiful. Better than the final recording. Almost as good are early demos of 'Star'. The demo for 'Soul Love' is extraordinary. Again, better than the final recording. Discs 2 and 3 feature a bunch of live stuff. But Discs 4 and 5 present more odd recordings that offer interesting perspectives. As mentioned in the headline, these are just initial impressions. I have not yet spun the blu-ray. But I would consider this essential listening for serious Bowie fans. There are some fantastic unheard gems (mostly on Disc 1), some so-so recordings and lots of live stuff we've heard many times before. The packaging on this one is very nice. The only real problem with this release is the cost. There's some great material on this one but it's difficult to say whether or not it warrants the steep price.
