Value exceeds cost.
I bought this for my personal use at home, and I have a similar yo-yo for work that cost 3x as much.I will say that for the money this is a great investment. The brake on this line is slightly more responsive which is mildly inconvenient. Take one step too fast and it’ll stop you dead in your tracks and slam you down if you’re trying to move quick. For the money saved, it’s worth it, and at least I know if I fall it’ll catch me immediately. As a side note I’ve used it in heavy rain twice and there is no sign rust or corrosion. The quality seems great in the short time I’ve had it.

a little life insurance
Got this for those times when I need to walk out on the roof to clean the gutters. There is no way I'd go to certain corners of the roof to clean where there is a 2 story drop without being tied to something. This seems to fit the bill- secure one end to the chimney and the other to myself (need to get a harness to clip to) and feel more confident cleaning dangerous sections of the roof. This is a cheap insurance policy that you hopefully never need but makes you feel more confident. The product does feel sort of cheap- the metal clips and plastic housing especially, and it is a cheap and inexpensive product designed to save your from a fatal fall. Does not feel like a professional product you would use if your job was tree trimming or roofing, etc. It feels like a product a home owner would purchase so they can hang christmas tree lights on their eves or clean their gutters. It does stop when you yank on it, and seems like it would break a fall when in use, just doesn't feel like something you would actually use on the regular. Does require some sort of anchor and some sort of means of attaching to yourself, like a harness, not just to your belt or something.

Self retracting lifeline – well-made, solid build overall.
This self retracting lifeline has the look and feel of a good quality device. All hardware looks and feels very well made and heavy duty. The stopping system works very well just as it should. The retracting action is smooth and consistent.Cable looks and feels durable and good quality.I use this to climb the mast on my sailboat and feel very comfortable with its use and the immediate stopping safety feature. Overall, very happy with the quality and functionality of this retractable lifeline!

Should have got this when we started the project ! ! !
Me and my son-in-law built a tree house with a 9/12 roof pitch which is un-walkable at about a 38 degree angle (similar to steep roof churches). We installed a 4ft x 6 ft roof skylight that has to be cleaned twice a year. We did install a safety roof anchor at the peak of the roof when we shingled thew roof. On previous skylight cleanings, we simply tied a rope the around the waist and onto the safety anchor and another rope onto a nearby tree for fall protection.I was never comfortable with this situation and was always looking for an automatic catch and stop safety device with a relatively short overall maximum length. This model RTOVZON Fall Arrest has an 11 foot cable which will be just enough length to reach the skylight from the safety hook (other of their models have longer working lengths). We also now have an official safety vest in lieu of a tie around the waist. I am much more comfortable now when the sky light needs cleaning. (When we shingled the roof, we used roof jacks and 2 x12 lumber to crawl around without safety lines. Looking back, it would have been nice to have this RTOVZON then . It would have made the job go much faster. ) I can sleep good at night now, without worry. The attaching hardware seems strong and failsafe. The snap shackle for your vest is a one hand operation. The connection to the roof mounted safety ring is more of a two hand operation where you screw spinning fittings over the opening of the shackle to prevent it from accidentally opening up if caught in the line. The line pulls out of the housing evenly when pulled slowly, but a quick jerk on the line activates two pawls inside the unit which lock up the drum and prevent any more line from pulling out and thus saving your fall. Using this two or three times a year, it will probably last us a lifetime. If you intend to use one daily, a more expensive professional model would probably be a better choice.

Safety first
The media could not be loaded. Here are my thoughts on this Self Retracting Lifeline/fall arrest system from RTOVZON.First, I feel that safety should come first. I feel this way because I've worked in heave construction and industrial sites where this stuff is mandatory for a reason. A simple and relatively inexpensive device like this could make a huge difference in a fall. So getting up on a ladder to clean 2 story gutters? This is something I won't do without some protection. And that's what this device does, add protection.I opted for the 17 foot version. I don't think I'll be further than 17 feet away from an anchor point. Plus I don't want too much added bulk. This little guy still has some heft to it. Don't let the plastic cover fool you. It's pretty solid on the inside. So once attached to a harness and anchored on something strong enough to hold the force of a body falling some short distance - the cable glides out of the housing nice and smooth, consistently. I tried to show this in the video. Then, if needed, it locks the reel from spinning when it's too fast or get a strong pull. So it's doing what it's made to do and will help if your tied to the end of it.The Anchor end clip is a bit cumbersome and not the fastest/easiest thing to deal with. A barrel connector and thread version seem faster. Minor complaint tho and taking an extra second or two is worth it for accident prevention. The opposite end connect via a snap clip to a safety harness This part is smooth and easy to operate.Overall good size and feel like a good sort of entry level, home use, type fall restraint. It works well and I'm happy to have this option for working up high or on a ladder around the house and pole building.
