Q: Why does the battery spark when I try to plug it in

The center conductor of the charger plug protrudes. When plugging in a live charger (already plugged in), the center conductor can contact the outer conductor of the battery port when making the connection and result in an arc or spark. This can leave a pit on the conductor surface. This has happened to me. My strong suggestion: connect to the battery first then plug charger in. This took care of my problem.

Q: Can I mount this to a bike with 20" wheels?

Yes, but you have to run your seat high.

Q: is the grouping of three @$ 639.93 everything i need to convert my bike ?

At the bare-bones level, it is everything you NEED. and it WILL work.... But not quite enough in my experience. I found that the controller bag they give in the kit does not really fit very well, and I felt it seemed insecure. Do I also bought a hard controller box. it is more sealed against weather. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DJD152P I don't NEED it, but it makes me feel better to have it. Another thing you will need is connectors for the motor controller wires at the tire end, or you have to unravel wires and juggle the bike and tire if you need to fix a flat it is possible to do, but it is real clumsy. There is a heavy dc line (positive and negative) and three controller lines. so I made used of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Y5CDJMT and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085W4SLLT (the multipacks don't bother me since I actually did this for several family members and I used them up.) Some velcro tape for the wires to the motor is good too, since you will start running out of zip ties when you change the tires. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RPOY384 You can add other stuff, but these are what I bought, and what I consider better to have.

I don't think it will. I left mine where it was and installed the new bracket and battery above my existing controller.
