Good info but poorly put together!
Interesting book but it is so poorly put together. It is so hard to figure out when it was written-some profiles written are in present and past tense, which is confusing. A lot of times, the information doesn’t seem first hand, just quotes from newspapers or books. Photos look like they were copied off of a copying machine, and I have never read a book with more spelling errors! I have read other books by the author but this one needs a decent editor!

Bruins History
This book is great in many areas. Not only are the Bruin's stars covered but there are profiles of many players that never got their due or received attention, especially from 1950-1965 era. I was pleased to see my childhood hero Peter McNab featured. There are many old pictures that I have never seen before. I learned some things such as how the B's did well even when Esposito was traded to New York. Jean Ratelle retired when Esposito did and had 46 more points than Esposito after the trade. There are a lot of good stories in this book. I deducted one star for two reasons. First is that modern day Bruins (2008 to present) are not really covered as well as they should be. Second is that I have never read a book with so many typographical errors in it in my life. Stan has written over 100 books and either his editor was asleep at the wheel, he didn't have an editor or maybe this was just a bad print job but it spoiled the fun of reading the stories. Page 179 has 9 mistakes in one paragraph about Flash Hollett. My review is based on the 2017 edition of this book. Typos everywhere spoiled my full enjoyment of this book.

Essential for Bruin fans
I'm not the biggest Fischler fan out there (he tends to write in empty platitudes), but this book is definitely worth checking out. Some of his rankings are kooky (Bucyk over Espo, Neely not in the top 20, saying that Tiny Thompson was the best goalie in Bruins history aside from Frankie Brimsek even though he rated both Gerry Cheevers and Ed Johnston ahead of Thompson), but that would be the case with any such list. It's a great generator for discussion, and the bios for each listed person have some neat anecdotes. There are no new revelations about Ray Bourque or Bobby Orr, but there's good information about some of the old timers like Bill Cowley, Cooney Weiland, and Frank Frederickson. If you're a fan of the Bruins, this is essential. If you're a fan of hockey history, it's also worth picking up.

Go Bruins!
This book is really big, which is perfect for my dad since the lettering isn’t too small! Go Bruins!
