KC HiLiTES 4230 7" Round 55/60w H4 DOT Headlight - Single Light

These lights were a great replacement for my Jeep TJ's headlights. The beam pattern is great for incandescent and HID bulbs alike, and had a sharp cut off for the low beams to prevent you from dazzling other drivers. My only problem with this light was that the part number for a pair was not able to be shipped to Alaska, but I was able to order two of the part number for one housing..

Replacing the standard "old style" headlights with the KC Hilites 4230 light is a quick and simple way to update the face of your Wrangler. These lights install with no modifications and look sharp, but their performance is lack-luster. The headlights have a phosphorous embedded "KC" in the lower portion of the lens. Don't get your hopes up on this trick, however. I was totally disappointed to see after driving home one night that when I parked and turned my headlights off, nothing really happened with the phosphorous KC. I looked at my headlamps and saw no phosphorescent glow. Great idea; poor execution. This was the only reason I chose the KC Hilites over the cheaper Rampage version. The worst thing about the lights is that on the high-beam setting, they do not spread the light evenly across the driving field-of-vision. There are hotspots where more light is concentrated. Although the problem is most noticeable when driving down tightly wooded roadways, the old style headlights did not have this issue. On the low-beam setting, not only does the candlepower of the headlight decrease, but there is a distinctly lower range of light (top to bottom) falling on the road when compared to the old style. This seems to make it safer for drivers you meet, however, because I no longer have oncoming cars flashing their headlights incorrectly thinking I have my bright lights on.

Does not send a clear beam of light there's a huge dark area exactly in the middle of the beam that really bothers me

Well made and very bright. Bulb fits perfectly in '98 TJ and looks great too. Don't get a cheap replacement, get this. Only one bulb, so you need to order two.

great upgrade over the stock lights on my TJ. They look great and are much brighter than the stock lights. I chose these over rampage as i know of several people who had corrosion issues at the bulb socket. Only time will tell how good the quality of these may be.
