Deserves the hype
I had been listening for years about how great the Kent shave soap was and I really did think it was a bit of a hype but decided to take the plunge recently and ordered it. For those who aren't aware, this is the famous MWF, only repackaged by Kent, probably with a better scent.I ordered the refill only. It arrived as it's shown here in the picture on Amazon. No box or anything, just the wrapped soap. Out of the wrapper...dry, it smelled very milky. Think Cella, if you've had a chance to use that Italian classic, without the bitter almond scent. I grated it into an empty ceramic bowl I had.I used an Omega boar brush with it the first time. Just a few drops of water on the soap, shook the soaked brush vigorously to get excess water out and then went to work. Man, this thing lathers so beautifully. I bowl lather. Swirled the brush for about 15 seconds on the soap, then proceeded to lather in the bowl. I got mounds of thick, creamy, cushioning lather. It was almost ridiculously good. I've read on several reviews and forums about how difficult this soap could be to lather. Well, I get very hard water here and the two times I've used this, once with boar and once with a Vie-Long horse hair brush, it has delivered very consistent results. I've never made lather this good and easy. Think whipped cream, you could easily fool someone into eating it, it looked so substantial. The initial scent, as I described earlier, is not very glamorous. Once you lather it though, it changes radically. It's still very subtle but it sheds its earlier bland character and there was this new, very complex fragrance... I'm not very good at defining scents... It's very delicate, almost a bouquet of spring flowers and fresh grass... very exhilarating, very nice.It performed very well, provided an excellent surface for the DE to glide on, extremely comfortable shave. One thing is that my skin was very taut when I had finished shaving and cleaned up my face. Not dry but taut, no razor burn though.I believe I'm a fairly experienced classic shaver and I'd definitely recommend this soap to a friend.

Great shaving soap.
I’ve been using Kent shaving soap for close to 30 years, purchasing from Amazon when the local store I bought from closed. Kent soap has always made great lather and lasts for a long time. Paired with a quality shaving brush, you can’t go wrong with this soap.

The Best
The best. 5 shaves. Quickly lathers. No strong scents. Makes lather that works. Rasor glides smoothly on my old skin. Smoothest shave. Substantially better than any cream in a can. Best I have used in 60 + years.Old Vet.

Good Metholated Shave Cream
In my quest for the holy grail of shave creams, I must continue my search. This is not to say that Kent is not high quality, just that I did not find in this the be-all end-all of shaving creams. The Kent cream was mentholated (which gives that exquisite post-shave tingling feeling). It also has an excellent lather, lubrication, and smoothness. Far superior to any supermarket creams and equivalent to a Proraso or Trumper product. The only downfall is the scent. It reminds me of laundry soap. Alas, my quest continues.

Not offered anymore
I really like this product. However, they no longer offer it through Amazon. They only offer it as a combo with bowl (I have my own), or as creme. Too bad, I would definitely subscribe.

One of the Best Shaving Soaps, Bar None
The Kent SB2, which is a rebranded Mitchell's Wool Fat soap, is legendary in the wet shaving community for it's rich lather and moisturizing properties. Shaving is one of the worst things to do to your face, creating thousands of tiny tears on the surface of the skin and removing many layers of skin cells, leaving the face raw and dried out. The whole point of soaps and creams and aftershaves and whatever else is to minimize the damage done to the skin, and in this regard nothing beats a traditional wet shave with a classic double edge safety razor, classic high quality soap or cream, and a brush. This soap puts the user closer to shaving nirvana than nearly any other, with a rich lather and incredible moisturizing properties. This soap is especially good at moisturizing due to the inclusion of lanolin, the same ingredient found in hand lotions that make them moisturize the hands. Some very few people are sensitive to lanolin, but if you are one of them you already know and would therefore be well advised to stay away from this specific soap. Otherwise, it is very difficult to point out anything bad about this soap. Some people say that it is difficult to lather, but I have not had such an issue. In my experience if you use good technique in lathering up the brush then you will have good results. For the unparalleled moisturizing properties of this soap, as well as the rich lather, I give this five stars, and wish I could give it more.

NOT
Shaving cream is not a cream at all! It's like a shaving bar that you must lather up, before becoming a useable cream, for a shave. More steps than I wanna take for a morning shave
