Hello, thank you for your question! When the battery is low, there will be a red light that will inform you that you have to change it. If the battery dies while the doors are locked, you can not open the cabinet's doors manually. You will have to change the digital lock's battery then enter your password and open the doors of the cabinet. You can find everything about how the digital lock works in the instructions manual that comes in the product's package.

The depth measurement is made for the outside dimensions of the product and the inside (usable) depth of the product is with around 2.30 inch less.
