Excellent penlight/flashlight for EMTs and paramedics
I’ve been using penlights as an EMT or paramedic for almost two decades, and this is by far the most ideal product I’ve seen yet. I absolutely love it. This light seems well-built, durable, and the perfect size and weight. It fits easily into my shirt pen pockets but isn’t too small or lightweight. The LED comes on at a low brightness perfect for checking pupils but can then escalate to brighter levels ideal for looking in cabinets, around a dark room, or under items. It won’t replace a much brighter flashlight for scene lighting at night, but its ideal as a light to carry throughout my shift. The color accuracy of the LED light is hard to describe but noticeably better. It just seems to illuminate things more naturally and I was a little surprised when I noticed how my patient’s iris colors seemed to pop much more than I’ve experienced with other penlights in the past. Finally, the pupil size chart on the side is a stroke of genius and brings a feature I’ve appreciated on cheap penlights to a premium light build.

Great light
What is great about this light is that it turns on at the lowest setting but gets brighter if needs be. This is perfect for checking in on nocturnal or other light sensitive animals in their enclosures.

I would buy this flashlight again.
I have one Fenix, two Olights and one Streamlight and the quality of this flashlight is comparable so far. The end cap is easier to operate that the Streamlight (mainly because it is not sealed inside a rubber boot). The Fenix is 15 years old and is rated at 205 lumens, I can't measure lumens but this Nitecore at 180 has a more diffuse beam than the Fenix (which a bright white spot) and works well for my EDC purpose. I read another post about it becoming 'hot' but I have not experienced this. Battery life is hard to judge at this time because although I did let it run on high for 2-3 minutes to check for excessive heat I mainly run it on the lowest setting. I'm still on my first set of batteries. The machined surface feels good in the hand.

Really good.
I like how this starts in a low lumen mode every time. When I want to save my night vision, this is great. The two brighter modes are great for around the house and in the yard. From factor is spot on and fits in hand like a pen. This makes clipping it in my pocket reasonable and not bulky. It’s also small and light enough to clip on my shirt collar in a pinch. The only down side so far is the button feels loose/cheap. It would also be cool to have a half press for momentary on.For 20 something bucks I recommend 100%.

Great upgrade from unreliable disposables
Glad I upgraded to this penlight from the disposable ones that never seem to work when you need them. This one is really nice quality with a sturdy clip, and with brightness options that are useful. Weight is reasonable and can be made lighter with lithium batteries.

Weld inspection
I purchased this light specifically for weld inspection and loved it from the start. The low setting is perfect for inspection of bight metals without blinding yourself with the reflection. The high color rendering index (CRI) of the light is also makes it ideal for inspecting weld color on titanium.

Nice but not perfect...
This is a nice light. Color differentiation is excellent. Always coming on in low mode should have made it handy for medical professionals who might use it for eye exams. However, it did sometimes flash briefly in high as I turned it on, so maybe not. The medium and high modes make the penlight versatile enough for general purposes. However, the body of the penlight is pretty slippery. I get that it looks classy or professional but some texturing would have made it more useful for general purposes. The button on mine felt a little loose and it's possible that the incidental high flash upon activation was due to defect. I'm not sure. I ended up returning it.
