Excellent speed, but some ADM versions have hibernation/ restart/ sleep problems
a) Problem with restarting/sleep depending on ADM version. If you have sleep/hibernation issues, do not manipulate the smb.conf file or domain master settings while chasing Samba daemons all over (that nmbd crazy little thing). Just change the ADM or re-initialize the disks with a previous or later ADM version. When you have an ADM version that works, save the ADM file. You'll need it to go back. Despite the warning messages, it DOES upgrade backwards at least one version at a time.b) Speed is excellent for the price. It never loses the speed. It's the most reliable I've tried for keeping the speed phenomenal.Great for home and home-based offices.c) Chose noiseless disks. This is probably the best constructed NAS at this price, but if the disk is noisy itself, it won't mask it.So: 5+ stars for the speed, 2 stars for unreliable sleep/hibernation settings which depend heavily on the ADM version, 4 stars for the good Asian-based tech support (when you call them directly). If you don't care about sleep/hibernation, buy it without looking elsewhere (by the way, all NAS units in the market experience some hibernation problems).

Almost Perfect
The Asustor NAS Server is a very solid hardware product. We have it configured as a RAID 1 device and it has been flawless in that purpose. We have other NAS devices and although Asustor is a relatively newer player, their hardware rates as some of the best we used. However, we were also configuring the device to sync with some Google offerings, namely Google Drive but we were disappointed by the quality of the software, documentation and online support available. I understand that the core of the software is open source grive but given that its a core of the software, I would have anticipated some development from Asus to get it right and then support it. This is the only reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 otherwise we were impressed by the product.

Extremely slow, unfriendly interface
I have a lot of files in an external USB drive, I tried to copy them to the NAS but I had to give up because it's so extremely slow! The GUI is pretty bad too. It doesn't give you any hint on how far it is with copying, and it can take several days without knowing whether it's working or not.Copying from an exfat drive requires an extra module which has to be paid apart.I think I will sell it back and get another NAS.

Nicely done
I've had this for two weeks and am very impressed. Good bang for buck - Intel Celeron quad core processor, 2 gig ram + 2x5T Raid 1. It looks like a mini ITX board stuffed in a micro mini-ITX case (if only there were such a thing). OS is a custom version of Linux. I'm using it as a media server to great success. It runs KODI well. It's hanging by wire off my router and by HDMI to the TV. WiFi computers on the network have no problem accessing it, and the iOS apps have worked fine. Reasonable (but not awesome) control with Logitech Harmony remote. Easy to sleep and wake on lan (by power button, network access or iOS app) . Requires average and above tech skill. It's a winner.
