Professor Wormbog in Search for the Zipperump-a-Zoo (Classic Collectible Series) Hardcover – May 15, 2011

Worked at the local library where they received this as a replacement for a copy long lost/destroyed. The librarian was ecstatic that it was back in stock so I checked it out for my own son as it was obviously a memorable book for her. I can certainly see why! The pictures are breathtakingly beautiful and detailed. There is always so much going on aside from just an image that follows the text, and the colors are so vibrant! My son had me read it at least three times on the first day of having it checked out. Upon returning it I ordered one for him so that we always have a copy on hand. I've always been a Little Critter/Mercer Mayer fan, but this book is in a class of its own. Much more imaginative story telling and much more detailed artwork.

My mom found the original copy of this book in the mid-80's when my brother and I were young, and it was a favorite of the both of us! The original is huge with wonderful illustrations! Unfortunately, my parent's copy was ruined when their basement flooded, and up until this reprint, the only originals we found online were going for $150+! I believe there was a paperback reprint at one time, but the formatting of the illustrations were changed, so some of the drama of the original was lost.I was thrilled to find this reprint; it isn't as big as the original, but the format isn't changed in any way. It's like a slightly shrunken version of the real thing! The illustrations are vibrant and beautiful! This is a fantastic story that kids will love-I bought three copies (two for friends with children, and one for our own future kids)! I highly recommend this wonderful book!

I remember when I was four years old, getting this book from the library. I couldn't stop reading it until the fatal day came that I had to return it. I went back a few months later and I couldn't remember the title. I tried to explain the book to the librarian, however, they had no idea. This book single-handedly hooked my on Mercer Mayer. His other books are great as well, but this one will always hold a special place in my heart. When I saw this was available to purchase, I knew I had to get it for my daughter. This book has great bright pictures, and many characters to look at. A must read for any child, or child at heart.

I had this book when I was little and through moves with my family it got lost along the way. When my oldest child was born I looked for this, but the only ones available were original copies for $275 (I love the book, but not at that price). I have checked now and again for the past 7 years and was so excited to see that they had re-printed this book and it was now affordable. The book is so wonderful, imaginative, and fun. My girls love it and we have read it almost daily since we got it in the mail. It is a great companion for our other Mercer Mayer book (the scratch and sniff one).

I bought this book for my 7 year old son for his next birthday. One of my favorite childhood books was Professor Wormbog and the Gloomy Kerploppus, but that is only available at Collector's Item prices. This looked like it could be a good substitute. The drawings and writing are very imaginative, and I look forward to getting his reaction.

Poor Professor Wormbog, he keeps searching high and low for that Zipperump-a-zoo but never seems to find it.. or maybe he does! My husband's favorite book growing up, now released again in 2011. We love this book, the details are FABULOUS, and wonderful! I know why this was a favorite for many of us in the 70's and happy to share it with my little one. You will not be disappointed with this book, Your child will love it! They don't make illustrations like this anymore, buy it and ENJOY!

Note that this book's older editions have 5 star ratings. Why this book was out of print for so long is a mystery. This was my favorite book from my childhood. Loved by both boys and girls, this book has both great illustrations and a fun story. A great gift for 4-7 year old children (But we just pulled this one off the shelf last week to read over, at the request of my 11 year old. Some stories are just wonderful to return to again and again).

My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter doesn't have a lot of time for books but this one has big bright pictures and not too many words so it is great! We ordered this because we just love the Mercer Mayer books so much. The characters are much different but the writing has the same rhythm. The book is a nice size and hard cover, slick pages and bright colors. Fun book!

My husband had a much-loved, passed-down, battered to death, barely functioning copy of this and it was his absolute most favourite book in the world ever as a child. Now we have children of our own he naturally wanted to share it with them, but had his heart in his mouth every time the toddler and the ancient tome met. Thankfully they've republished it, so now we have several copies, and it's a firm favourite with our child too. If you like interestingly named beasties, vintage illustrations, and books with a sense of humour, then you won't be sorry you bought this.

This story has been remembered by my kids for over 25 years. We all loved it and I confess I can still recite some of it by heart! Bought another two copies so that my three grown up offspring can pass it on to their own children. Highly recommended.

I love the story, and pictures and silliness of the book, so does my 4 year old! I remember my parents reading it to me, and it's still just as magical.

The book was in perfect condition. I was very happy.
