Awesome Book for Real Fans
If youre wondering if its a good read, it is. Way less technical than the Michael Crichton books but not less descriptive or less excellent at world building. Taking a more grounded approach this novel reads in first person perspective from Claire Dearing, protagonist of Jurassic World. This approach works as well as it does because this is a younger Claire, one in college who is brand new to Jurassic World and is us the reader being exposed to a pre-operating park. But Claire is also made to be a human being. We learn a lot about this character that Jurassic World never showed and explains why she got the position she got and originally why she wanted to work at the park. Which really adds new layers to a character who was overly criticized by “film fans” in 2015. I already loved her character but Tess Sharpe added more dimensions and unwrapped Claire from being a cold ice queen into a hardworking woman who wants to make real change with her line of work.Tess Sharpe also really knows how to write human beings. Its weird to say that but, many books of scifi feel like imitations of what real people talk and sound like and especially women. But here the mostly female group of characters are written and portrayed as real women which is REFRESHING. The Jurassic series has needed more female characters beyond the one girl rule and I am glad this book went about remydying it in creating expanded characters that Claire meets and befriends and fleshes and opens up the wider Jurassic World. Claire’s character is a political minded one and other female characters have varied backgrounds and interest making Ronnie, Tanya, Amanda, and Bertie distinct and memorable despite only existing in written text.I dont normally like long reviews that dont get to the point so I’ll sum it up now: if you’re a major Jurassic fan that loves following the movies and expanded media, then The Evolution of Claire is a must buy. Its so far the only expanded media we have thats canon to the movies that isnt a movie but works in expanding upon the character of Claire Dearing & of the park we come to witness in Jurassic World. Actually truth be told, I would say The Evolution of Claire, if not for the prologue which is set after the events of the movie, would be great required reading after a new fan watches the first three Jurassic Park movies and before watching Jurassic World. This book changes a lot about the newer films adding more layers to them.If you’re not a major Jurassic Park fan or are one of those people who only liked the first movie and never paid attention, skip it.

Good on it's own
It was a interesting read. They did well mixing a mystery, dinosaur nerd items, and emotions. If you didn't know about the movies or care about them this is still a story worth reading

I knew this was a young adult novel so I was expecting some sappy love writing, but it wasn't overflowing
I got this to see how it expanded the lore of the franchise. I knew this was a young adult novel so I was expecting some sappy love writing, but it wasn't overflowing. When the story focused on the dinosaurs and exploring the park and its ethics, it was solid. I liked that. The only complaints I have are that it feels like it takes so long establishing who Claire WAS, and not nearly enough time showing her change into the cold person who only sees dinosaurs as money makers in Jurassic World (the movie). There's a small glimpse of that at the end, but she still clearly cares about the dinosaurs, so I was expecting a little more on that front. The other complaint is about the Justin character. I despise Mary Sue characters and Justin is that. He has no flaws, unless you count needing glasses as a flaw. He supports everything Claire does, doesn't push her one way or the other with decisions, doesn't ever question her decisions, backs her up in arguments, never displays any hint of being an actual person at any point; for all intents and purposes, Justin is some kind of robot Claire made so she could have the perfect boyfriend, and it's incredibly nauseating. Also, the additional focus on Dr. Wu was very welcomed. He does start out sounding like a bitter old man stereotype, but beneath that exterior, he displays a kind but science-driven heart. His scenes were probably the best as far as characters go, aside from Mr. Masrani's during the final chapter.

What are you willing to risk?
Tess Sharpe draws you in from the first sentence. Claire is a relatable character who is going through a period of life we are all familiar with: figuring out who you are and what you're made of. "The Evolution of Claire" accompanies Claire on her first summer after her freshman year of college, during her first major internship. The details used to describe the dinosaurs, the island, and the way Mr. Masrani's Park is set up are beautiful and terrifying. I couldn't put this book down. If you are a Jurassic Park fan, or just someone looking for a good coming of age story pick up this book and set an afternoon aside. You won't regret it

Very good. Hooked from the beginning and didn’t want it to end.
I really loved this book a lot. I already loved Claire before. I read it but this book made me love her even more. I didn’t want to stop reading the book, and after finishing it I plan on reading again (which is something I very rarely do). If you have an ambitious girl in your life she might really enjoy this book. It reads like a young adult novel, which I don’t understand people complaing about since that’s what it is. If your hoping for a more adult dinosaur book go read the orignal Jurassic Park. For a young adult novel I still enjoyed it a lot and I hope they continue making Jurassic books like this.

A must for any Jurassic World fan
If Claire Dearing is one of your favorite characters in the franchise, this book is a must.At the young age of 19, we meet Claire just days before heading to Isla Nublar and never looking back. She’s always been ambitious and ruthless, but this book tells the story of how a teenage girl embraces that force within her and wears it as her armor. She’s not scared to admit that she wants to rule the world.A prequel where you see how both the Operations Manager Claire and the Dinosaur rights activist Claire once coexisted in the brain and heart of a poli-sci student with a bright mind.
