The Blue Viper a micro fine spray of your favorite weed killer and covers up to 1/4 acre quickly and efficiently. Precision sprayer allows for spot spray, broadcast spray and continuous edging. A 16-oz tank and 3.5-lb weight and 30-in shaft allow the Blue Viper to operate easily with one hand, making it simple to target just weeds and not important plants and flowers. No pumping action is required and the Blue Viper runs on 4 AA batteries (not included). Also includes a bottle of Blue Viper Disappearing Dye, which shows where you've sprayed and then fades away. This is the perfect solution for driveways, yards, flower beds, gardens, fence lines, parking lots, ballparks, cemeteries and more.

Really wanted this to work...
What a great idea. I was really was hoping this would work. I purposely ignored the comments thinking other reviewers were being too particular...but they were exactly correct. First off I tested it with water, but the water would never descend into the arm. Nothing came out. After trying to figure that out then the water just leaked all through the battery compartment and out. I don't understand why this is such a poor design. Seems like an easy fix not to have the reservoir even open to the battery area. I really wish they'd fix this flaw. I would totally buy it again if they could get it to work or have a newer model. Would have been a godsend.

WOW What an Improvement!
The idea of this electric wand sprayer for killing weeds is a good one, but the design and construction quality of this model needs much improvement. I filled it with water to test it. It sprayed the water out as advertised but the reservoir tank leaked down my leg in almost a constant stream. When I looked closely at the cap and spout of the filler, I could see how roughly finished the lip of the spout was. There is no sealer gasket inside the lid, so there could be no water tight seal no matter how much I tightened the cap. Also, the cover over the batteries kept falling off and since the batteries hang upside-down under the handle, they kept falling out too. The manufacturer needs to charge $5 more and use the money to make some simple and common sense workmanship and design improvements. I returned it the same day.FOLLOWUP REVIEW August 12, 2015Well, they sent me a new model of this sprayer to evaluate because I had such a bad time with the first one. Wow, what an improvement! The battery case cover holds the batteries firm now. The tank has been redesigned with a fully effective cap THAT DOES NOT LEAK! The sprayer lays down a fairly even spray of the liquid and the spray is adjustable from fine mist (spaying directly on plant leaves) to a coarser spray for spraying the ground. ALSO - They include a bottle of blue dye (biodegradable) to tint the fluid you are spraying so you can tell where you've sprayed. How clever is that! I can now give this sprayer 5 stars and recommend its purchase. It's very rare for a manufacturer to take complaints to heart and make changes to their product. These folks did that, and did an excellent job.

Still can't endorse
Update #3 Oct 2015 While the viper does a good job spraying weeds, it leaks all over the place when it's not in use. The directions say to completely empty out the herbicide when not using the sprayer, but I weed-kill every few days and am not able to judge EXACTLY how much herbicide I'm going to use, so there's usually some left in there. Several times I found big puddles of weed killer all over the garage floor. I want to like it, I really do, but they just have to work the kinks out.UPDATE #2 Aug 8th 2015: A rep from the company called me last week saying they'd made improvements to the Blue Viper...they added filtering screens which should prevent the leaks that developed over time on the previous model. She sent me a new one for for free.Ergonomically this is better than any other type of sprayer I've used; there is no bending to reach the weeds, it's light, and the shape means it doesn't strain your upper body joints at all. It is also my favorite sprayer as far as practical function; nice battery operated pump, wind guard on the spraying end, and slide-button operation. The question is, for the hefty price tag, will it last over time? Since the growing season in MN is so short I don't feel I can give it a dependability review until the end of next season, so I'll be back then to leave another update.UPDATE #1, late summer 2014: My blue viper bit it at the end of season two. It leaked out of the spraying end so badly that all the weed killer ended up in one big puddle. The battery compartment cracked, and as another reviewer noted, the batteries kept falling out every 3 minutes. Piece of crap. If you only need it to make it through two seasons (which is a total of 6 months in MN), please see below initial review.ORIGINAL REVIEW, early summer 2014: I have severe arthritis in my hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders and traditional weed sprayers were killing me. I've tried every type of sprayer system out there and this is the only one I like....I've used this for two seasons with great results! The Blue Viper is lightweight, super easy to spray (just push the slide button), and there is no pumping involved like other kinds of sprayers. There IS a rubber gasket around the cap on mine so I have no problems with leakage (unlike the other reviewer), but if you lose it or don't use the gasket the tank will leak. The best things about it are: the stick is long so you don't have to bend over, and the blue wind shield thing is great so you don't have herbicide flying all over. The batteries have lasted a full 5 month season without needing to be changed. My only complaint is that it's really hard to fill the reservoir with the herbicide....the curved stick makes it difficult to prop it up against something when you're pouring in the liquid. Other than that I find it efficient, easy to use, and well made. Worth the high price tag in my opinion, especially when it saves my upper body so much pain.

Disappointed
Good concept but never got it to work properly. I followed the directions to purge the unit of obstructions - felt like I was doing the manufacturer's quality assurance. The spray was variable, coverage not uniform and tip dripped. I ended up throwing it out.

Horrible
The idea is good but this is a piece of junk. Very disappointed because as a senior I thought this would be very easy for me to use. It didn't work and I was very careful with it. The nozzle would not come off for cleaning ever. I practiced with water and it was just ok. I put on my spraying clothing and added the Roundup and dye. It gave one squirt and died. Then was dripping all over. A mess to empty safely.

This is going to be fun!
Just got my Blue Viper sprayer and found a “warm” day and sprayed some Roundup on weeds in my drive. What a cool idea. I’m going to have fun weeding my garden next year. I would absolutely recommend the blue viper. I think I will order a couple more as gifts.
