attwood6556-7 Universal Watertight Marine Boat LED Round 3 Nautical Mile Transom Light

I wanted to replace an old Perko transom light that was corroded and barely visible, and looked at lots of options. I wanted something bright, (officially) USCG approved, and easy to install.Many of the lights on Amazon were flush mount (meaning that they don't stick out far beyond the mounting surface), but most weren't surface mount (part of the light mounted beneath the surface, and therefore requires cutting and appropriately sized hole). Many of the reviews seemed to confuse flush mount vs surface mount.This is one is effectively both! It's super thin, but only requires a small hole in the transom for the wire to pass through, so installation is a snap while leaning over the back of your boat. The existing wire hole from the Perko unit worked just fine, and I only needed to drill four small pilot holes for the screws. The existing screw holes were within the light's foam sealing ring, so there was no need to patch or seal them.The light is very bright but uses very little energy, and looks really sharp. A little on the pricey side for a basic white light, but I'd rather buy one of these and be done instead of installing low-quality $15 lights every couples of years.

Good clean design, easy to install. My pole light is in my line of sight when looking to the rear, the light makes it hard to see to the rear when driving at night, This transom mount light was just a little more $$ than the cost of a shorter pole light so I gave it a try. It is very bright and lights up the swim platform nicely as well. I kept my pole light and spliced this unit into the existing wires. 2 reasons for this; 1) If the LED ever dies, I'll still have the pole light as a stand-by as the bulb is not replaceable. 2) Transom mounted lights are not visible 360 degrees and this could be a danger when anchored at night. I'll continue to use the pole when we are anchored for fireworks or fishing etc.

Great looking, highly visable at night. Easy to install, only two small holes to drill and if you are like me I added a small amount of marine sealant to the back of the plastic housing just in case, we have preaty high waves out here in the middle of the Indian Ocean. To be fair the stern light housing does inclued a 1" square piece of foam installed to prevent water ingress.

The light itself is well built bright and good quality, my only complaint was the black waterproofing gasket degraded quick and caused a foot wide diameter on my transom to constantly turn black. The only way to get the black residue off was using an abrasive Cleaning sponge. I'm not sure if my gasket was from a bad stock or not. If it weren't for the gasket I would certainly of given the stern light 5 stars.

This light is great and very bright. I bought it and use it in conjunction with the existing stern light on my boat which is unfortunately blocked when the swim ladder is raised! This light is so much brighter and much whiter. I'm not sure if it is due to the color or the brightness, but this light definitely attracts a lot more bugs. The pole light and the old stern light are both the same and neither had many bugs around them, but this stern light really brought the bugs.

Replaced tired Arch and Transom lights. Nice modern look very bright, great price.

Easy to install, nice bright light, and has a certain bling factor more boat accessories need. Not a cheap peace of plastic.
