Flowing River Farm- Bird House Wire Entrance Predator Guard

The media could not be loaded.  UPDATE: All the baby birds fledged yesterday with the help of the Mama Bird and of course, with the help of this wonderful wired guard. In fact, the first fledgling stumbled and fell on the wired guard. I can’t imagine what would happen without it.This birdhouse predator guard works great! It is easy to install. Actually, I didn’t use any of the nails provided because with a standard bluebird nesting house it fits perfectly. See the attached pictures. Highly recommend it!

We purchased this gate for our bluebird house. We were having problems with woodpeckers and other animals stealing and wrecking the nest inside the house, once the bluebirds laid their eggs. They would hang on the edge of the house and put their beaks in the hole and rip the nest with eggs in it out of the house. We put it on our house this year and have had good luck with it. We have already had one family of bluebirds in it they have already hatched and left the nest. We now have another family starting to nest in it. Worth the purchase!

I'm paying for convenience here so I don't have to fabricate these myself. Quick delivery and easy to mount. Local Audubon friend recommended adding these to our backyard birdhouses to discourage predatory varmints. I've mounted one on a winter roosting box (Minnesota) and I liked it enough I plan to get one more for a birdhouse. Kit is screws, washers, and galvanized hardware cloth formed into a rectangular guard and fastened with two nylon zip closures. Works for me.

Dimensions of the product are not per the description. It needs to be longer to protect bird against the raccoons.

We bought this after an owl plucked our male bluebird off the front of the birdhouse last summer. It was awful! We skeptically bought this but have been thrilled with the results. It’s seriously a front porch for them and they use it often. We sit on ours and watch them and they do the same. You need this!!

I’d been after my husband to make one of these for over a year. Simple enough to make, right? But procrastination is my husband’s middle name. Found this on Amazon and ordered it right away. All it took was a few turns with a screwdriver and it’s up and ready. Hopefully it will protect the birds from neighborhood cats! Easy to install, lightweight, and my front opening clean out still opens enough without taking the protector off. Great purchase. I noticed a few birds checking it out this past week. Maybe I’ll get new neighbors soon!

Heartbroken that the raccoons and possibly a garden snake was pulling baby birds from my birdhouses, I have been trying to find a way to prevent more home invasions. I ordered two of these cages with some skepticism that the birds would enter the cage, but 2 hours after I attached them, the birds were flying in and out, and even using the cage as a little sun porch! My only disappointment is that when I tried to order 8 more, they were unavailable. I found a similar cage on Etsy and have ordered 8 more. Hopefully they will work as well!
