Way better than what I had expected!!!
I wanted to get a computer for my kids, something cheap but functional. I bought an old Dell Optiplex desktop CPU, Pentium 4 running Windows XP at a local thrift store for $60. It worked great with an old monitor and keyboard I had. However, the Ethernet did not work. I spent hours trying to find the right drivers for the computer Ethernet, without any success. So I decided to get an Ethernet PCI card.My local tech mega store had one for $50...ten dollars less than what I had paid for the computer. So, I found this one here on Amazon, and I was (and still am) 100% pleased with it! It cost just a fraction of the one I had found first.Installation was a breeze! Just popped up the CPU, snapped the PCI into the slot, closed the CPU, turned the CPU on, connected the Ethernet card to my cable modem and loaded the enclosed CD-ROM with the driver software, which basically walks you through the very simple and quick installation. Honestly, anyone who is handy and who reads the installation instructions can do this.It took me about 2 or 3 minutes from the time I opened the package to the time when I was logged on to the internet! It works perfectly!!!I was also impressed with the service. Very prompt, quick delivery, very well packed. I definitely recommend this company and/or this product to anyone!

Works in Ubuntu Linux with a little tinkering
This was an amazing product. If you want to use it Linux, here is what you need to do:1. Boot into linux and let it sit on the desktop for about 5 minutes.2. Shutdown completely (do not restart)3. Boot into windows (borrow a hard drive with windows on another computer or dual-boot, it does not matter)4. Go into device manager and right click on your network adapter5. Go into properties for that network adapter6. Look for an option like "Let this device wake this computer up" or "Let this device bring this computer out of sleep or hibernation"7. Check that box and hit apply.8. Shut down the computer completely9. Make any neccessary hardware changes to boot linux10. Boot linux11. The kernel should detect it and initialize by itself.12. Make any neccesary DHCP settings13. Enjoy your internet!I hope this helps someone get this working in linux. And the product itself is amazing for its price. The only thing I could ask for is network boot capabilities. But if you want that, just go to www[dot]rom-o-matic[dot]com and select "all drivers" for the driver selection.

Wow! Great experience.
This ethernet card came in an easy-to-open retail blister pack and just looked pristine. The blister pack had perforations in the back that made it easy to open. I had to switch the attachment plate to the enclosed smaller size for a 1/2 sized card and it was very easy to do. That is a big thing for me because with both Trendnet and StarTech models I've used recently, the 1/2 size plate was difficult to attach and both gave me considerable frustration. This Dynex model fit perfectly! Further, the StarTech model 1/2 plate would not even fit in the computer's groove for it in front of the PCI slot. The Dynex model fit there perfectly too! Finally, to my surprise, I didn't have to use the install disk! It just automatically found a suitable already-installed driver. You might be thinking, "well that's the way it's suppose to work because the driver was already installed". With the StarTech model, it did NOT work that way and required using the install disk -- same computer.Fantastic experience.

Possible Compatibility Problems
This card caused odd problems with a WinXP SP3 system: crashing browsers, dropped DSL connection, and worst of all, random restarts. Yikes. Replaced with a 3M card; problems solved.

Dynex DX-E102 PCI Network Adapter
Dynex DX-E102 - Network adapter - PCI - Ethernet, Fast Ethernet - 10Base-T, 100Base-TX Pretty straightforward. It looked like it was of decent quality, fit into it's PCI slot smoothly, was recognized immediately on Windows XP SP3, driver installed automatically, and internet worked perfectly. Even has a nice blinking light. Includes drivers and software if you want it. An easy way to add ethernet functionality to an old computer or a computer with a broken PCI ethernet card, and costs very little. I'm happy.

Pop it in. Boom, it works.
Network jack on the motherboard went south so I ordered this board to bring the computer back to life. Installation was about as technical as changing a light bulb. After making sure the board was firmly seated, I dropped the included CD into the drive, clicked on the button to install the drivers, rebooted the computer and we are back surfing the net. Total job, 5 minutes, three of which were spent fussing with the computer case.I'm happy.

Inexpensive, works well, handles like more expensive units.
Worked very well for the price. It handled the speed of the Itranet quite nicely. It did not lag behind more expensive devices.
