Very modern but too expensive.
Had an old wooden one I was replacing that splintered. This was great. My opinion is at bottom.Bottom line:Instructions came with it as shown in picture but the link to the video was way more helpful.1.Run a string for reference point 29-30” above steps. As code is between 34-38” I think for height of railing.2. Select positions on studs and mark evenly.I had a straight pole 10’ long that came with 5 handle anchors.Keep in mind the center has a bracket and you can’t put an anchor there. When attaching the poles, insert extrusion half way into first pole hold extrusion so as sliding second pole in you don’t push extrusion further into first pole ensuring even distribution.3. Needed 2 people. 1 to hold pole and one to stick initial anchor in.4. When placing anchor in be sure the top insert is center of the markings for anchor. Then twist it into place.Try not to do this too many times as the head on the anchor is alluminiammo and bends. :(5. Once you get your first in your golden. Try not to let the center bend too much. Have the second person assist in holding the bar.The anchors slip in and turn one way only. Just remember to slip them in where the markings you made on the wall in the center then you can adjust the angle. Was a small learning curve but the video helped a lot.I like it a lot but was a lot of $$ not sure if it was worth all the $$$. If I had to do again I would not

Fantastic
When I first review this product I gave it 5. But I had broken one of the brackets by stupidity. Mentioned it in my review. They answered me immediately and sent out not 1 but 2 replacement brackets. An easy fix. Highly recommend this product and company.

Nice-Looking Rail That Holds Its Weight
One of the odd things about the staircase in my home was that there was a long stretch where only one side had any railing. This was a bit troublesome since the wooden base of the stairs could get a bit slippery, and the experience of falling on the stairs is far from desirable. So I set out on my quest to find additional railing for my stairs.I had two main factors that I was looking for in my railing considerations: 1. I wanted railing that came in the specific length I needed to cover the area in question (11 ft), and 2. I wanted a product that specifically stated where the mounting brackets were so I could ensure they lined up with my wall studs. I began my search with looking at the cheaper options; most of which being some form of PVC or thin metal railing. The reviews were a bit concerning, however, so I eventually decided that spending a bit more would be the safer option; especially since the railing would be meant to ensure physical safety.I decided upon this Promenaid handrail due to its nice appearance, clear product description, and good reviews. Like many rail options on Amazon, I was able to select a custom length to fit my needs. This also was one of the few railing products that specified not only where the mounting brackets were, but that they can be positioned wherever you want them so that stud positions would not be a problem. The product shipped from Canada (to US) and arrived a whole week earlier than Amazon anticipated. The packaging secured the product well and each section of the railing was packed in its own box, each of which was taped together for a single shipment. The rail segments even had protective tape on the edges with my name on it, so I could tell the railing was prepared specifically for my order. The installation process was fairly simple; most of which I did by myself on the floor. I had my wife help hold the rail briefly as I installed the first and last brackets per the instructions. I installed the rest of the brackets by myself with the rail suspended by the first two. Once installation was complete, I tested the rail by hoisting myself up a few stairs using just my arms to ensure that everything was nice and sturdy. Nothing moved, and there were no creaking noises. The only downsides I came across with the product were the rail joining area and the mounting screws. The area where the rails join don't completely match up unless the rail is installed absolutely perfectly. I even tried to change which ends meet, but I'd have to make a tiny adjustment in the bracket placement to potentially fix the gap, which isn't really worth losing structural integrity. The screws for the brackets seem to strip way too easily considering that they need to be screwed in all the way for maximum integrity. They can survive an initial installation and possibly and adjustment or two, but they would need to be replaced if any more work needs to be done.Overall, this is a great product, and you will see the money you put into once the railing is up.

Great modern rail
I took a chance after reading mix installation reviews, and people were right; it’s a beautiful rail and it’s a pain to install.I purchased the 7ft rail to go the basement and used 3 of the 4 wall brackets to secure it to 3 studs. One brackets clip arrived damaged so thankfully I didn’t need to use it.There no way you can possibly get all the brackets in place and screw it in, in one shot. I clicked in the top bracket and tightened the back screw enough that it was tight but I could still pivot it. Note: If your bracket slides on the rail, it’s not clipped in properly!! I secured the top bracket with some #8 1” screws as a place holder. Now on to the the other brackets! Then clipped in the bottom bracket to the rail, and I marked the correct height from the step for the bottom bracket. I traced that bracket on the wall, and marked the 3 holes. I secured it with the 1” screws. I then took a pencil and marked center where the bracket meets the rail (in case something shifts). Then I took the 3rd bracket and clipped it in. Yes, you can clip it in while the rail is mounted using 2 hands. If it doesn’t swing in because of the wall being too close, loosen the lower bracket screws to allow for a little wiggle in the rail and the 3rd bracket should click in. Then. I traced the 3rd bracket and holes. Then I unscrewed the two brackets from the wall with the 1” screws. I tightened the back screws on the back of the brackets. Zero clue how to get the screws under the brackets in without scraping the rail to hell. Oh well it’s solid.Make three pilot holes per bracket. Then use a drill driver to sink the big black screws into the studs. The rail is beautiful. But the process is murder. If you’re handy it’s great. If not, don’t bother. The manufacturer has a great product but the install and tightening screws need to by Allen key based.

Challenging but worth the effort
We bought 2 for use on the stairs to the basement for my MIL’s use and we love it. My husband did find it difficult as he had never done something like this before. In addition, the task was complicated due to the stud placement in our old house. But, after a few false starts, job got done. The handrails are sturdy and look great.

Almost perfect.
I was looking for a handrail as our main floor stairs to the basement never had one. I needed something sturdy, and wanted brush metal. This one fit the needs. The mounting mechanism is very cool, and very functional, but it does make the installation process more difficult if you are alone. I had to install this unit myself, and 12ft with the mechanisms was tough. I needed to hang it on something to be able to get the brackets in the right places and orientation for the rail to be straight. Once installed though, I could probably hang on the railing and I'm around 150lbs. Just make sure the large screws are into studs and you're golden. My only annoyance was the joint between pieces. As this was 12ft, it came in 4ft and 8ft pieces, with a bracket to attach them. The bracket to attach them isn't very strong, and moves a bit during installation. The bracket also prevents the usage of a wall bracket anywhere near the joint. It doesn't lock the pieces together well either, so there's some play even after installing all the screws. After I finished my install, the joint isn't 100% flush due to minor manufacturing imperfections, so there's a 1/10mm lip, enough I can feel the rough metal edge on my hand if I run it along that area. If there was a transition piece to cover joints, this unit would be perfect. I put on a small piece of aluminum tape and it looks ok and the lip is no longer felt.Other than the minor joint issue, the product is solid and looks great. The whole kit includes everything you will need, brackets, railing, anti-slip rubber, heavy duty screws, end caps and connecting kit for the joining.

A Necessity as one gets older
In searching for a handrail solution for my short two steps into the house I checked Homedepot, Lowes and other building contractor stores. What I would was Amazon had the right solution in the best quality that I needed.Handrail arrived the next day after paying a $15 shipping fee. (cost of doing business). Great Service direct from Promenaid.Promenaid's website is an excellent source of how to videos which really assisted in the installation. I also had the privilege of speaking to Gary in their Install departments to get the right size drill bit and Tapcon screws in order to properly secure the handrail to a brick wall. ie. 3/16 Carbide Drill bit and 2-1/4 inch Tapcon Phillips head 1/4 Screws. Amazon sells the Tapcons as well and a drill bit came in the box.Installation - did don't go as easy as planned. Had my daughter mark the 9 holes that match up to the 3 supports and when I went to drill them with my Ryobi had drill set to hammer mode it did not make a dent into the brick wall. So I spent the extra to get a Ryobi dedicated Hammer drill however it did not keep the drill bit snug so back it went and I bought a Milwaukee hammer drill with a manual chuck and not my holes where properly drilled. Remember Slow and steady the holes need to be neat and cleaned out for the Tapcons to work properly. The attached pictures show the results. Mounted at 38" at a slight incline Promenaid's handrail will never move. Please note I did not get any endorsement funds for this review but I feel a good product deserves a good review.Stay Safe, Ralph Ottawa, Canada

Bit finicky to install but sturdy and solid
Bit finicky to install but ultimately a good product. Definitely need two people because unlike the old style where you install the brackets and then attach the rod, with these you install the brackets into the rod and then attach the whole thing to the wall. So you need someone else holding things up etc. But the bracket mechanism is pretty genius with the way it clicks in and swivels. Overall super sturdy and solid once installed and a good value for money. Certainly a nice modern look compared to the old wooden ones.
