the monitor button broke, I had to use the power button on the base. I got these chords to connect the base to the monitor panel. the barrel sizes were a match to the power ports on the base and on the panel itself. It was hard to find this barrel tip size, because I would go to other sites and they simply would not have them. No, they do not need soldering to join the barrels to a wire, they are readily connected to a wire. a male chord has ends connected to a coupler for converting the barrel size to the appropriate power port size of my samsung monitor. It feel good to have found this item, otherwise I would have thrown away my expensive samsung monitor in the trash. Thank you.
