Best sharpening system I’ve found
I own a wide array of sharpening gadgets and get ok results from most of them. This whetstone set by far gives me the sharpest knives. It takes a bit of practice. Watch a couple YouTube videos and grab a cheap knife and practice. I use a magnifier to look at the edge and bought a leather strop to finish the edge. After practicing on my less expensive gear I sharpened both of my expensive knives. My best Japanese knife rivals it original out of the box sharpened.

Work well, but need more intermediate grits
I read a few reviews stating these break down into mush. They really have not for me. Properly soaking the stones is imperative to get them to function properly. The stones themselves need a lot of maintenance during the sharpening process, an issue I have not had with other higher end stones. I get tired of my kids dropping the things and breaking them.I use my knives daily, from pairing knives to large chef knives, and I keep them razor sharp. This leads to edge wear, so they need to be angle honed. This is not really possible with these stones. Once the edge geometry is gone from the blade, you will no be able to put it back with the 400 grit stone... if you do, it will take a long.. I mean a long time. I hook up my small belt sander with a 1000 grit belt and put a new edge on it, then sharpen from there. The kit comes with a microfiber towel and a flattening stone. The flattening stone works really well to keep the stones true. These are from China, so I am sure quality varies by which sweatshop they were made in. If I were to buy another set, it would not be these. I try to not purchase items from china, as you never know what is in them. I store them away from anything I store food in, and I scrub down knives and surfaces after I am finished.Bottom line, good cheap stones, but I certainly don't trust the origin. Next purchase will ne a set of naniwa's or shapton's. If you are looking to learn to sharpen your own knives, great starter set. Cheap enough to ruin, and will work just fine, just don't trust whatever is holding them together.

Great value Whetstones.
They are a great value deal if you do not currently own any whetstones. I have had a bunch of different types including some very expensive choseara single grit stones that were gifted to me. These will work fine for anyone learning or just wanting to get the job done. I will say that the lower grit is a bit off but it still worked to even out some small pits I had in a cheap knife. With these and with most whetstones it all comes down to technique.

I love this! But gosh....
You can definitely over sharpen your knife! In fact... one of the knives I had, a very cheap and poor product knife. Had no blade but this whetstone sure helped me create the blade! No longer a knife but literally a razor! You could shave with this knife now! Lol... also the whetstone stays pretty damp throughout sharpening your knife. You do have to add water. I love it!But oh one more thing the cloth that came with it ripped immediately. I threw it away. Oh well. That’s something I can overlook.

All I need for my knives.
Before, I have one 400/1000 grit stone but broke it, so I bought this set, and I wish I purchased the 3000/8000 grit stone earlier. The 400/1000 stone helps to sharp my knives for sure, but the 3000/8000 grit stone make a whole new level of sharpness. The cutting feels a lot nicer, and smoother. My wife says knives are too sharp that she is scared to use them now, and request me not to make them this sharp next time :) Overall, I love this set, and with its price, I cannot find a better set than it.

Amazing Value for 4 different grit levels
I've had these stones for ~1 month and I've used them about 2-3x and they are amazing. They don't wear down as much as the last set of stones I've used. The non-slip base is an added plus with the addition stone flatten-er(which I haven't used yet but great bonus to have). VERY SHARP knifes at the end. Very happy with this p̶u̶r̶c̶h̶a̶s̶e̶ investment.

Good set for the cost
Wanted to upgrade from a cheap dollar store type sharpening stone without getting an overhyped and over priced sharpening kit. With a bit of diggin around and comparing my options, I settled on these. I'm not expecting them to be the highest quality, and they're not - one did have a slightly damaged corner, I have so far been happy with these stones. I had a few kitchen knives that were in various states of wear, some one with noticeable nicks to the blade to a couple that I know are hardened very well and can be a challenge to sharpen. After siting down to sharpen my knives, I'm fairly happy with the stones I got. A little more length might have been nice for my larger knives, and the rubber footing provided did slip a bit, overall each knife was sharpened fairly well, and while my skill is a bit rusty and wasn't getting shaving sharp blades or slicing though paper, I ended up with much better blades than I had started with. Hopefully I'll end up using these stones a bit more regularly.
