Flat riding boot with buckle detail More than the name of a footwear brand, Franco Sarto the man is the driving inspiration and passion behind the actual designs. By the age of 14, Sarto was working in a shoe factory where his job was to hand-last shoes with a hammer and nails. It is Sarto's start as a cobbler, and his passion as a designer that makes him a rarity in the business. He designs his shoes both with the sweat and blood of a technician and the grace and beauty of a world-renowned fashion designer. To this day, Sarto hand sketches many of his designs. Franco Sarto understands a woman's undying passion for shoes and is dedicated to keeping that passion alive by crafting beautiful shoes that bring joy to women around the world.

HUGE IN THE CALVES! Good if you've got 'cankles'.
I bought these for my wife I'll let her write the review. My husband bought these for me as a gift. :D Very sweet of him.I am giving them a 3 star rating simply because: leather is good quality, they were well made, zippers were sturdy and soles looked durable, the leather was dyed consistently and looked as though it would take a polish. Outside of that I don't have a nice thing to say about them. Franco Sarto makes a nice quality product and IS one of my favorite designers but I think he should stick to shoes and sandals as opposed to boots.I am 5' 3.5" tall. wear a size 6 and weigh 116 pounds. I'm not a big girl. I always thought I was built 'normal' and reasonably thin, not 'skinny' or anorexic. This leaves me to ask, "Who are these boots made for?" My calf measures 13.5" around and is 16" tall from the bottom of my heel to the back of my knee. I wear a 7.5 average/medium width shoe. So they fit just perfect in the foot BUT these things were HUUUUUUUUUUGE in the calf and I was positively swimming in them! I could see if I had ordered the wide calf version of the boot but I had not. These were the 'regular' width! They were so big around my calves, I could stick my entire hand in the side even with jeans tucked into the boot and with socks on!I originally wanted these boots to wear with legging/jean-legging type of pants or with tights and cute little skirts and sweaters. While I didn't expect them to fit like custom riding/equestrian boots that may cost in the range of $400-$800 I DID expect a little better from Franco Sarto who does use 100% leather and does not make cheap shoes. Also the leather was what I would consider a bit thin for a boot. The boots looked 'slouched' and lacked a rigidness to the leather that gives that "tall boot" look. I had the feeling that if I were to keep them and wear them, the boots, would only get softer and droop and sag more. They bagged around the ankles and looked awful. NOTHING about them said, 'RIDING BOOT' , gave that profile or leg hugging silhouette. If you've got 'cankles' and big, meaty calves then you might like these. Otherwise, if you are of normal feminine proportions, not overweight, or built like a professional weightlifter and looking for something that flatters your legs stick with Franco Sarto shoes and sandals and look elsewhere for your riding boots. Either save your money for a pair of custom made riding boots or be prepared to spend a lot more money on a higher quality product.

REAL leather needs TLC
They are real un-treated leather so if I didn’t treat them right away they would’ve scratched easily. When I say treat I mean they need some TLC (tender loving care), I rubbed them down completely with mink oil. It soaks in and its for weather protection and especially for making the leather water resistant. I’m from TX and needed boots for NY snows seasons coming (cause I just moved her). Negative comments were just novices who didn’t know how to treat leather, it IS quality leather just NOT treated completely.Love them! AS advertised!

Way too large in the calf area
I have a pair of Franco Sarto boots that I absolutely love so I thought I would try these. They arrived quickly and the quality was as expected but the calf area was huge! My legs were swimming in them! They were so different from my other boots so I returned them. If you have larger calves, they may work for you. If you like a snug boot around your calves, then these are probably not what you are looking for. Good luck!

Not worth the $$
I honestly do not think these are real and I’m sad that I wasted my money on them. They do not fit like any other Franco boots that I own and they feel completely different than the real ones at Nordstrom they also cost more!!! The weather is stiff but has stretched and worn down after three wears. I wish I would have just purchased them in the store. I’ve had one of my Franco’s for 3 years and the other for pair for 2 they are holding up great compared to these.

Comfortable, good value. Narrow tops.
Probably the most comfortable riding boot ever - the leather is thin and pliable which makes them comfortable, but also makes them wrinkle and a little bit shiny. They don’t look like a $300+ pair of top grain Italian leather boots, but they aren’t. For the price, I’d highly recommend. One note - the calves are quite narrow. I’m a very petite person so they fit perfect for me as there is no gap around the top but If you are athletic and have muscular calves, maybe not going to work. The leather is thin so will stretch will some wear though. Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase. Best boot ever, no. Awesome value when you want real leather and don’t want to spend a car payment? You bet.

disappointed
I really wanted to like these boots. They are cute, and seem to be good quality leather, but the fit is off. I am not one to generally need a wide calf boot, but I could barely get these on :( they are extremely narrow. I'm by no means supermodel skinny, but i'm not a large woman either.

Sleek and Comfortable
I had a hard time finding simple black boots but these fit all the criteria I was looking for. They are simple and sleek but comfortable to wear all day. They were a little tight in the calf at first but wore in easily. They fit to the size I normally wear and I can also wear a sock with them. They look great for work and casually.
