It is soft but not “squishy “ soft.

Yes. Some of the Fluff & Tuff toys have better squeakers than others. The pheasant I have had a good squeaker,

But the manufacturer site says “They are tested for leads and phthalates, double scanned for metal or foreign objects, AZO dye free, stuffed with a non-toxic polyester fill and all eyes are embroidered for added safety.” We have a fairly powerful chewer but this toy has held up well and still squeaks. The only issue we had was with the tuft of hair - pup kept pulling it out. We gave the pheasant a hair cut. Problem solved.
