For the money, pretty decent...
My daughter got me one of these, having seen one in a discount bin at a store. It is inexpensive, surprisingly sturdy, and I have used it often for listening to audio books. I wouldn't consider it adequate really for music, but it depends on how high your standards are. Mine are pretty high. It combines left and right channels for a mono sound. Which is just fine for audio books. For audio books it gets plenty loud to provide excellent intelligibility in a good sized room. I use it around the house, in the garage, and also on the front seat of the car on long business trips. (I have no audio in jack on my car stereo.) It has tone controls that work and the pots seem of high quality. Same high quality on the on/off switch. You can run it off 4 AA's (I use rechargeable ones) or through a usb connector on the back. You need a small Phillips screwdriver to get the battery cover off, which I am used to. A flexible tab would be easier on that feature, obviously. Rechargeable batteries give me a full day of listening at a reasonably high volume. Bass is limited but you can turn it up to be adequate. This is being advertised as a "guitar amp." It certainly isn't that and I don't think that was ever the intent. Obviously it looks like a Fender silver faced amp.I liked it enough to get a couple more for a second house, but could only find them by ordering directly from China, which I did. I think the MSRP (check the Beare website) is only $29.95. I could be wrong about that. For the price, this is an excellent speaker. It is no Bose portable, but then it costs a lot less.
