Great tool for beginners, multi-taskers
I love crafting, and wanted a wood burner that was inexpensive, but better than what you can buy at a local craft store. This was perfect for me. It’s easy to use, came with a lot of tips and little extras, and not overpriced. I did research brands that are recommended by the pros, but decided to give this one a try. It warms up quickly, and so far I haven’t noticed any issues. I have used most of the tips, and they all work great. Any issues I thought I had with hot spots were actually due to the grain in the wood. The glove is useless for me because I have extremely small hands, and while the tool gets pretty hot, it isn’t painful unless you slip and hold it in a certain spot. I definitely recommend this for anyone interested in learning wood burning, or wanting a tool that does more than one task.

Review
Just plugged it in to see if its works. Got very hot. The gloves that come with it are very thin. Might keep you from getting burned if you just barely touch the hot end.just don't try to hold it to long to steady something

Great Product - Could Use List of Tips
Nice assortment. Handy to use. This kit contains 52 wood burning tips and then other tips (soldering etc.). One thing that would have been nice for beginners like me would have been to have a list of the tips with tip type name, picture of tip, and picture of tip burn effect (what does it look like). That would be extremely helpful. So instead as a first project and good learning tool, I have taken a thin piece of wood board, used the tool to make a table grid, then in each row - glued printed picture of the tip, looked up tips for names , and used the tip to burn the effect. Been fun and still in progress (received kit a week ago) but would have preferred list already done so I could use my time better. Also make the instructions bigger - those included were so teeny tiny I had to break out a magnifying glass to read.

Not for extended or serious use
For what you get at the price it’s a great beginner kit. This is more for someone who is interested in wood burning/pyrography and is just dabbling without a lot of big projects. I had never done this kind of project before but I planned to make 6 different cutting board designs for Christmas. Let’s just say I’ve only made 3 and the tool is already crapping out on me. Maybe I have a really hard wood and have to push kinda hard but the tips have started to bend. Some things that annoy me is that the base and the tips are just screwed on by hand and start to loosen as you use them. You are constantly having to plug and unplug the tool because you can’t touch it without burning yourself. Same goes for changing any tip, you have to unplug and wait for it to cool down. The gloves they provide don’t do a thing for heat protection. The tool also gets hot and you can’t hold it at the black rubber piece you have to hold it further down near the orange handle. Also, there isn’t a sturdy stand to set the tool down on so it rolls around and has the potential to burn other objects or yourself. There is an inner tip that you use to screw all the little tips into and that tip had ended up melting to the base so now I can’t change it out for a new one and it has gotten crooked, making it harder to burn designs. All in all…it’s a good little kit for light handwork and beginners but for the projects I had in mind I probably would have done better with something more heavy duty or professional. Hopefully it lasts me through 3 more cutting boards.

NOT a beginner kit
I ordered this kit because it was described as a great kit for beginners, and it was reasonably priced. The kit comes with many, many pieces: attachments, tips, and other sorts of metal parts that I could not figure out what to do with because the directions are AWFUL. There isn't a parts list that tells you what the parts are and how they connect to the tool. The direction's pictures showing the nine steps it takes to set up the tool with one tip are poorly focused so it's hard to see what you are supposed to do, and there are no written directions to go with the pictures. The stainless steel case does not fit over all of the connectors, so I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. When I changed connectors and attached another tip (removing the tip the tool arrived with) the tip was wobbly even though I tightened the connector and case as much as possible. In addition, the tip is so far from the hand grip that it is hard to have any control. If you hold it a little too close to the edge of the rubber grip to get better control, the heat coming off the metal part of the tool is hot enough to burn you. WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING IT. Finally, it gets HOT. The temperature knob is a joke: teeny tiny, and how can you have any heat control? No on/off switch to keep the pen from overheating. If you want to change the tip it takes more than 20 minutes for this to cool down, so a project will take forever if you need to use multiple tips. All in all, a BUST.
