Horrible
This book was a HUGE disappointment on so many levels. It seemed to be some kind of marketing/educational manual for domestic violence. I have compassion and empathy for domestic violence victims. But after spending 75% of the book laboring on and on about the poor woe is me female - with absolutely ZERO romance to the hero on her part whatsoever - and hearing over and over and over (and over) again how ugly and fat she thought she was, I didn’t care if her evil husband/family found her and had her locked up again. She was completely unlikeable, nasty tempered, and treated the hero - a genuine good guy - like such crap I wished he would boot her off his ranch not claim he fell in love with her. What the heck was there to love??? The book *could* have been saved if the author spent more time writing about the characters falling in love and less time preaching about the abuse suffered by the female. I didn’t buy this to better understand domestic violence. I *thought* I was buying a romance novel. I have been a big fan of Ms. Anderson but this is her third dud I’ve read and I believe her best years of writing are definitely behind her. I will waste no more money on her books.

Gob-Smacked
Sweet Nothings is the third book in the Coulter Family Series, and I've absolutely loved the previous stories. I liked that the heroine in this story, Molly, was described as plump, round, and insecure about the extra weight she carried. A lot of books have heroes and heroines who are too close to perfect, too good to be true - but as I often say - that's why I read romance. I don't want real life, I want my fantasy. But Molly, being 30 pounds over weight, was very relatable.I loved how Jake is written as this big, sexy horse rancher with a Robert Redford Horse Whisperer reputation, who falls head over heels for our very relatable Molly. We meet them as a couple when Molly steals a racing horse from her abusive ex-husband and brings him to Jake. Let the romance begin! The story is a bit formulaic, but with enough plot to keep you interested. The only thing that I didn't particularly like, was that Jake is so gob-smacked by Molly that he's ready to marry her three weeks into knowing her, but it's not totally clear why. We are just told he loves her. That's it.Over all, Sweet Nothings is a good, light read, perfect for some mindless escapism - which is exactly what I like - I Don't need believable, I just need a good story.

To thine own self be true
It's so crazy how we often allow others to define us, to tell us who we are, who we should be. Molly certainly did that and it nearly destroyed her. Fortunately for her in daring to do something risky she not only found out who she was, who she was always meant to be, but she found a love with Jake Coulter that helped to heal and renew her. This novel drives home the importance of how careful we have to be about who we allow into our lives and how we let those people influence us. Off to read the next one.

Hollywood Fat
I bought Sweet Nothings because I was intrigued by the heroine, Molly. She was described as "plump" and "round" and insecure about being 30 pounds over weight. I like reading about plus size heroines. I also loved Jake, the big, sexy horse rancher who has a Robert Redford reputation as a horse whisperer. We meet our couple when Molly steals a racing horse from her abusive ex-husband and brings him to Jake. Here our romance begins. I enjoyed this story, even though it was a bit formulaic. What I didn't like was Molly being described a plus size, when she is actually 5'3" and ALMOST 140 pounds. This is Hollywood fat at BEST. Jake is a hero any woman could fall in love with, but I'm still not sure why he fell in love with Molly. He's ready to marry her three weeks after he meets her, and we are never shown why. We are just told he loves her and that's it. I appreciate that Jake loved Molly's curves, but having it described how turned on he got by the "squishy lumps" of cellulite on her thighs forced the suspension of belief too far. Over all a good, light read, perfect for some mindless escapism. just don't go in expecting too much.

A great read
I'm an avid reader & was the 1st in this series. I found it a trifle risque but skipped over a few pages. Her story takes place in the past but was a great red & will send it along to Indianapolis for my 2 sisters to enjoy!

sweet nothings
finally I was able to get a copy that was actually large print. it was a bit un nerving because this is the second book in the catherine anderson series about modern day Coulter family. the first one iis phantom waltz about the youngest in the family of 5 men and one youngest sister. Sister story is first but this one about the eldest Jake was the pivot for all of threst of the sons,Hank, Zeke, Isaiah and Tucker. This series links into the one about the Harrigan family. I am re reading the entire series, but still have to find one book in the Heritage Coulter family series, Keegan's Lady. I cannot find it in large print. If you enjoy good reading and adventure with romance, read catherine anderson.

suprised with some of the reviews
Although this book has a number of reviews I had to add my two cents. I was suprised with the people turned off by the heroine Molly. One person even said she is portrayed as stupid, ugly and obese. Although not exact words close enough to the review. I guess I was suprised because Molly although overweight is not portrayed as stupid, ugly or obese. She is portrayed as a woman who for 10 years was married to a man who emotionally abused her into believing she is obese, stupid, ugly and so unimportant that she deserved to be used as a doormat. The hero's job (which he does fantastically) is to make Molly understand and believe she deserves better. That she is beautiful, that her opinion is important and most of all that she is worth loving and that her love is worth having. Although the novel did not pull me in as much as some of her other work, (Coming Up Roses and Annie's Song) I found it to be an enjoyable read.
