Lava Lite 4221 Mega Lava Lamp, 17" x 4.5" x 4.5", Purple Base/Purple Wax/Blue Liquid

Bought this as a Christmas present for our 13 year old girl. She LOVES it. I love it. I tell my daughter that I'm going to steal it from her room because it's so pretty and fun to watch. It does take a long time to start up (average of 2-3 hours!) but once it gets going it's great to see. It's very calm and relaxing, almost mesmerizing to watch. A great addition to any room. I really do want to get another one for myself!

I have a lava lamp from the dark ages in my bedroom. I was stoked to find this one in purple and blue, my two favorite colors. It works perfectly, just like the old one. I put this one in the living room so everyone can enjoy it. It's so soothing and relaxing to watch.

This is the worst lava lamp ever. Do not buy. Not like the picture at all. The blue liquid is so cloudy that you can barely see the lava. There is not enough lava and you can barely see it. It is just some balls and they mostly hang at the top. I am so upset that I broke the one I had that was really old and worked so great like an old fashioned one. You just can't count on anything being right these days, Very upset because I really wanted a purple one.

I've had lava lamps before so I'm ok that it gets very hot. Love the purple wax globs and the contrast with the blue water. But there are two problems that keep me from loving it the way I did my lava lamps I had as a teen. The first one has been commented on by other users. The light is very dim. In the dark you can really only see a faint glow in the bottom of the base. Second issue is that the bottle is full of tiny air bubbles at the bottom and about halfway up the sides. I tried gently tapping, cooling it down and trying to tip the bottle back and forth to get them to release.. everything I could think of. From a distance it isn't too bad, but up close it looks really disappointing. Step back a bit and it just looks like silver glitter. Still it is in my living room globbing away. You can't really get lost in it because it is too dim but a nice conversation piece and it makes me smile.

Th3 package and contents arrived in good shape. The display is quite attractive but it would be nice if it were 10-15% brighter. It fired right up exactly as the instruction manual said it would.

The first time I received this item, it was CLEARLY damaged, the box was destroyed and the metal base all dented. Amazon sent me a replacement right away and this is why we shop on this site.As for the item, it works quite well. It's actually a very beautiful color that seems richer in tone than most lava lamps I've seen before. I own another lava lamp that is close to being 20 years old, and this new one gets a LOT hotter than the old model (no idea about manufacturer). I'd be very careful about where this item is placed and I would certainly not leave it unattended for long periods of time. You will be shocked by how hot the base gets.

My son LOVES this lava lamp. It is beautiful and the quality is excellent. You never really know what you are going to get when you buy something online but we were not disappointed.

I really wanted to like this and keep it, so when the first one came and the light didn't work, I called and they sent me another one. Well, that one didn't work either, so we went out an bought a light bulb for it. So it works, but you can't get rid of the bubbles, and they didn't put enough wax in it, there is no real connection as the wax moves up and down the bottle. I've had lava lamps all my life, and I can't figure for the life of me why they cut back on the one thing that made the lamp beautiful. In any case, I'm returning this, because I can get the real thing from any shop specializing in retro items. Too bad, Amazon. Seems like the bigger you get for your britches, the more we -the consumer - has to pay for it.

Good colour on the base and liquidLight leakage from the bottom doesn't look great, specks all over the glass that may or may not be intentional but it kinda kills the look tooIf you order in winter it will likely freeze and break

This was purchased as a gift for someone special, and it definitely did not disappoint! The colours look great, it really is the focal point of the room when it’s on. Super happy with it, no issues with the seller or delivery times; thank you!

The glass is full of defects .

Great lamp, heats up well and the “lava” melts nice to move!

Flawed glass! The color isn't solid blue on the glass (looks worn off) and it looks like it has air bubbles in the actual glass. Terrible quality and seems old and used.
