I read it until there were no more pages to turn and then I started over. A key interest is "Apple Brandy's" mother, Mildred (Millie) Cain, a pretty, well educated, petite young woman living in the late 1800s. An only child of a wealthly Kentucky family, Millie defies her father and falls in love with his poor but handsome hired-man. Sadly, it's not a love story, but it is the kind of true story that movies are made of.
