Gratifying when a purchase is this exactly right.
The last time I found kitchen towels this good, I was cleaning out my grandmother's attic. Those old towels seem to get softer with age and lasted forever. When I pulled these out of the box, it was like going back in time 50 years and making noodles with my grandmother. These are a lot like her towels. These are made from a long staple cotton twill fabric. Twill is a durable weave and a towel this gutsy will be able to stand up to tons of washing. My grandmother used a scrubbing board and boiled hers. These might fade a little but they look like similar work horse. The cotton is soft and thirsty for drying dishes, or counters. When making noodles we first used a towel like this as a pastry cloth to roll out the noodles. These towels look like they are perfect for rolling out pie or noodle doughs. Heavy enough to lay flat. Once the noodles were cut we hung them to dry. My grandmother took a towel just like this one, folded it in half end to end and lightly stitched a pouch with long running stitch to store the dried noodles in a dark cool pantry. You didn't realize you would want to do that with these I bet.I don't make noodles any more, but I do use a big kitchen towel from France to place over loaves of bread while they cool. These are big enough to cover about five loaves of tea bread and cover the sides. These come with a thoughtfully written card with washing instructions. Add 1/4 cup of salt to the first wash to help set colors. (This also works with any cotton fabric that tends to run or bleed.) No detergent with bleach alternative! (For stains try treating it with lemon dipped in salt.) Avoid fabric softener as it can repel water. Try using 1/2 cup vinegar per load to get rid of smell and leave them soft. Dry on low temperature. To avoid the edges curling I took mine from dryer right away and firmly smoothed out. Twill weave has “play” and any curl will come right out.Altho I forgot to measure before washing, after drying these are 19 X 26.5 inches. These would make a great gift for cooks, and minimalists who just want to buy 4 towels that will probably last 10 years. I liked the towels so well, that I bought a second set in TEAL and had them shipped to a cousin. She just called to say they were “exactly right.” Makes two of us.You can tell how stressed out we are. Just getting four really nice kitchen towels made our week!

Premiere Product...Don't pass these up!
If you're looking for a "Top Shelf" quality set of dish towels, look no further...I had recently purchased a different, less expensive set of towels that were ok. Nothing to write home about, but I had no complaints; they just ended up being used for other things. ... when I decided to purchase another set, I wanted to review some others. I'm so happy I did! The Homemakers Dish Kitchen Towels are Perfect! Really! I'm more than satisfied...I'm ecstatic! The towels arrived on time, folded as shown, tucked in a plastic bag for protection, and boxed. They arrived completely intact. I washed them immediately because I was excited to use them and see how they would work. The care instructions were well written and gave excellent advice on how to care for them. I emphasize this because we all want to be able keep things as long as possible and these instructions will allow us to just do that. I am tickled that this set of large, quality towels are super absorbent. They have the capacity to dry all my dinner dishes (for two), leaving no nasty streaks on glassware and still be able to keep up with the demands of a busy kitchen. I just love knowing I'm not going to have to use two or three towels when I'm extra busy....It's Awesome! As far as the material, you can feel that top grade material was used to make the towels which, still feel super soft after a third washing...I air dry them, so I can't speak on shrinkage. Also, the herringbone pattern add a nice, subtle look and the grieve color goes well in my white kitchen. The sides and ends are double folded and sewn securely and unlike others I've had, I know the ends won't fray.I am completely satisfied and incredibly happy to be able to say I chose the BEST! I know I purchased the preeminent dish towel available, at a reasonable cost.My sincere gratitude to "The Homemakers Dish"...PS: I was not paid for this feedback. I'm just one very satisfied customerr... Cheers!

Too Dense --towels not agile, not easy to fold, handle or toss around. Stains are hard to get out.
Good marks for style, absorbency, and low-lint. Towels are so thick they take up a lot of space and are kina stiff, making them difficult to fold. They are also heavy to handle. They are difficult to get stains out of -- such as chile and turmeric -- lots of work to pre-soak, soak and scrub. Versus Harringdon towels which also tic all the boxes (style, absorbency, low-lint) but stains come out much faster and easier. And Harringdon towels afford greater agility and movement in a kitchen with fast-moving parts and prep. (This is a home kitchen for a large family.)

Thick Towels - Maybe Too Heavy For A Kitchen Towel? - Naw Perfect Towels
EDIT 08.04.19 Update. The towels are doing great. Sops-up everything, still has the color & texture as the new towels. GREAT!I had some pretty ratty-looking kitchen towels. I kept looking for the perfect ones @ a good price point. I almost bought some “flour sack” ones, but I thought that they would be too thin. I saw these and liked that they were large & heavy. After getting them, I wanted to wash them first to get rid of any “stuff” left by the manufacturing process, see if the colors would run & to loosen them up a little. I used one of those small plastic bags of Tide, some vinegar & wash them on regular, drying them them on medium. Colors did not run & they were loose. They dryer lint trap had hardly any fuzz in it. I noted before the wash, that the towels were very thick. Maybe too thick & that they may be more suitable for bathroom hand towels.I used the first one for ~ 2 days - no heavy duty stuff yet. And the second one for one day which included drying pots & pans, some dishes, counter & double sink drying. The towel gulped down the water on all the items. They retained their “thickness” & shape unlike less thick towels would have & although all the water was gone they felt dry.A second wash & dry revealed that they did not shrink & they retained their thickness. So far they have passed the test & look to belong term keepers & well worth 5 stars across the board. I’ll keep them for kitchen use, but in apiece they could pass for batroom hand towels.

Very thick. Great quality!
These really are value for money. They are a very thick cotton, absorb and clean well and colours are vibrant. I like the material since it's not microfiber which doesn't even dry and leaves a load of fibred on the plates. These are a clean ordeal. I don't have to use kitchen towel afterwards to rid of fibres. Very pleased with them!
