Fresh Mill Herb Storage Canister and Mill, Green

I purchased four of these last year and have just purchased two more. Every time I have to fill them, I fuss about whether I'm doing it right. It is NOT intuitive. BUT... we love fresh foods. For us, fresh herbs are a big part of tasty cuisine. I could never keep enough fresh herbs without a lot of waste which bothered me so much, I didn't often buy fresh herbs. This awkward little thing has solved the problem. I keep mine full in the freezer. I remember to take them out only long enough to dispense the herbs. They have to go right back in the freezer -- can't let the contents thaw. When I have to refill, I just get over the awkwardness of reassembly. And then every time I use them, I am so happy to have fresh herbs at my fingertips, I forget all about the fuss. Do I wish it was easier to use? Yes. Have I found a better solution for having fresh herbs at my fingertips? No. Et voilà - two more go in my freezer this weekend.

I read all the reviews before I purchased this but decided to try it anyway since I was throwing out herbs that would not last more than a day or so. I expected it to be difficult to assemble and disassemble. I understood that once herbs were placed in it, it needed to be frozen before use. So, I thought I really had realistic expectations. When it arrived, I was pleased that assembly and dis-assembly was much easier than I expected. I read and followed directions and it was really pretty easy. I had just purchased fresh basil a day earlier so I placed it in the grinder and placed grinder in the freezer. The directions only have one small note about it working once herbs are frozen in it. However, the box it comes in clearly indicates it as a frozen herb grinder. I used the basil again a few days later...just ground what I needed from the mill and popped it back in the freezer for the next time. It was fast, easy and perfect. The herbs thaw almost instantly once ground and exposed to air or heat of food. They looked fresh, tasted fresh and smelled fresh. This was total perfection for me. I love this mill and have just ordered 2 more. Total thumbs up for me.

My husband actually wanted this for Christmas. I though it would be great for fresh herbs, which I use frequently. He had actually picked out a different mill, and honestly, though it was more expensive, I may try to find that one! This one says "Fresh Mill" but it requires you to freeze the herbs before you can grind them. I use rosemary more than any other herb, and so tried that one. I was very disappointed. It had difficulty grinding the leaves, and often let entire leaves through whole. It was very uneven in the texture, and had difficulty with small amounts of herb. Also, basically you can only use one herb, or a mixture, there is no way to change out the herb in the canister. It wants you to freeze your herbs in its mill and then use it, which means if you use several different herbs, you have to get different canisters for each one, or combine them in one. I use different herbs in different amounts based on what I am cooking, so this does not work for me. I guess I will be hand chopping my herbs. This was a waste of money. I gave it 2 stars because it did sort of do what it said it would, just not to the standard I expected.

Once prepped for use, it delivers thin (frozen) flakes of whatever you decide with which to load it. Unfortunatly "prepping for use" involves guessing at the disassemby and reassembly of the product, getting a wrist workout in re-twisting down the compactor plate, unwedging thin leaves from the side of the plate, praying that the threads don't strip, and freezing the herbs inside. All in all, it functions as advertised with a learning curve that must first be tackled.If you are having problems with the herbs not grinding properly, spritz them lightly(!) with a mist of water before freezing.

As any Aerogarden user can attest to, herbs grow so fast in the Aerogarden that it is almost impossible to keep up with them. The more you harvest the more they grow! I have herb keepers, but still sometimes get a lot of wasted herbs. The Fresh Mill Herb Storage Mill has easily solved that problem. I purchased two of these, and I filled one with parsley and one with basil that I harvested from my Aerogarden. After the herbs were frozen, I gave the mill a trial run and grated fresh herbs flakes over a salad. It worked really well! The herbs are easily grated and they taste just like fresh picked herbs! The mill is a sturdy compact unit, that doesn't take up a lot of freezer space.I am really pleased with this purchase and like the idea of just going to the freezer and delivering fresh herbs on a dish with a few twists!

First, it does not come pre-assembled and it's very hard to assemble. The instructions translated into English from Chinese or whatever probably has something to do with it. I had to enlist the help of my husband (with a Mechanical Engineering degree) to help me assemble the thing. It's not real clear where to put the herbs and forget trying to use it just as a herb mill. It must be frozen to work even remotely like it's supposed to work. I managed to grind up some fresh parsley from my herb garden once right after removing it from the freezer (needs 5 hours) but within a few minutes of having it out of the freezer it stopped grinding the parsley up and I wound up with a big mushed up parsley mess. I have already returned this thing. I do not blame Amazon for the quality of this herb mill. It's very rare that I am disappointed in anything I purchase on Amazon.

Although I was looking for something that I could use fresh herbs with, this product works great with the frozen herbs. You do have to make sure that the herbs do not defrost, however, because it does not work and clogs the mill. I would reccommend this product.

I don't know if I like it or not. The box and all included instructions are in French and I don't read or speak French. So -- I have no idea how to take it apart, or use it at all. If I can't get instructions in English, I'll have to return it.

We bought this to keep basil in the freezer - after 3 months of use, the mill stopped grinding. My next purchase will be ice cube trays to make and store basil cubes in the freezer - less likely to experience the disappointment of having wasted my money.

This works like a charm. I always found it too fussy to chop up fresh herbs at the last minute. This makes them readily available.

Ich konnte mit der Mühle keine Kräuter mahlen. Vielleicht wäre es mit einer sehr grossen Kräutermenge (einen ganzen Strauss Petersilie) gegangen, aber für eine kleinere Menge für zum Beispiel Salate oder frisch über Bratkartoffeln und Quark gestreut, funktioniert sie nicht. Der Aufwand sie auseinander zu schrauben und auszuwaschen ist dann auch zu gross. Für den Preis habe ich mehr erwartet und habe sie wegwerfen müssen.

Hab schon ein paar davon. Kräuter waschen und GUT abtrocknen. Wenn sie richtig gut trocken sind einfüllen und ab in den Froster. Bei Bedarf schnell über das Essen gemahlen. Etwas Übung bedarf es schon. Wenn die Kräuter zu feucht sind bekommt man einen Eisklumpen, das schafft die Mühle nicht. Reinigung ganz einfach in der Spülmaschine 👍
