Seems like Snake Oil....
But...it's not! I bought this mostly just to mess with the guys at the range, I didn't have high hopes as to it's practicality. Imagine my surprise (although I shouldn't have been surprised, it's a Caldwell product after all) when the darn thing is awesome! It certainly fits into that "I didn't know I needed one until I had one" category. The fit is perfect in the magazines of both my AR-15's and it can be used in my Remington 700 as well. The fan blows strong out the end of the barrel and cools EXACTLY as advertised. There is also a nice blue LED that shines in the chamber when the unit is on..it's kind of a silent slap in the face to the guys who don't have one. One of my range friends saw it and instantly had to have one, just because we're gadget guys and because it performs well too. Go ahead and get one, it pays for itself in the 'scuse me while I whip this out department"....AND it works. Rechageable batteries last a long time, and are easy to charge with the included charger.

Excellent product
This thing works great. I use it mostly for breaking in new barrels, and for rapid fire competitions where the barrel doesn't get a chance to cool down between rapid firing. With the excessive summer heat in Arizona, I have cooked the throat on more than one barrel. Just insert it into the mag well, and turn it on. It blows a LOT of air down the barrel. Everyone at the range was very interested. It also has a built in blue light so you can see from a distance if it is on.

I am using it to cool a precision AR between groups
I am very surprised how quickly this cools down the barrel. I am using it to cool a precision AR between groups. With how quick it cools the barrel I would expect it to cool a barrel after a mag dump quickly as well. The only improvement I could suggest to the company is to cast it out of yellow plastic not clear gray. That way it would function as a chamber flag on many ranges as well. I wrapped mine in yellow tape (not the fan of course) so it will function as a flag on our range.

Perfect for suppressed
Amazing product that works. Almost necessary to have at the range when shooting suppressed. No more long wait times until the can is cool enough to take off or put into a case attached to the firearm. After only 2 mags, this device is displacing so much heat I can melt the label on a water bottle a couple inches away!

Works Great!
This is the best idea to come along in a while. Put this in your mag well, and switch it on while you refill your magazines. And when you are done your barrel will be cool enough to resume shooting. It charges up fast and will run for over 2 hours on a single charge.

Battery died after two light use
Serious quality problem. Bought a brand new Accumax Barrel Cooler. Used it twice in the field, each 20 minutes max. Now the battery doesn't charge anymore. The cooler is useless now.Contacted the manufacturer about warranty service two weeks ago, no reply. No more Caldwell for me.

takes a good while. I guess if you set it in ...
It blows air , If it is 100 degrees out it blows 100 degrees . takes a good while . I guess if you set it in a bucket of ice it would work , or if it is 30 degrees out . lee

Nice item works good.
This thing works good, it needs just a bit more fan, to cool the barrel down just a little quicker. It takes a while for it to cool the rifle down . not as long as without it and not so fast that it distempers the metal, It sure helps if you shoot with a "can" on the end. now that's were this helps, as anyone that shoots with a "can" knows it takes forever to cool those down. but, all in all anything is better than 300-400 degrees even ambient temp of 95 is better blowing and circulating air through barrel and suppresor.
