Incredible addition to an SMT fan's collection.
A detailed look at the world of SMT IV with in depth descriptions of the intent and creative process of the artists involved. The quality is great, with a beautiful cover and nice quality paper. The ink is rich and vibrant with crisp details of the images. This really was a joy to read and I'd highly recommend getting the english edition if you don't speak Japanese so you can enjoy the insight into the creation of this amazing world that the developers and artists crafted.

Quality paper, crap book binding
The papers are thick and of nice quality. The art looks great on the pages.BUT the binding is absolute garbage and there were way too many proofreading errors. I could forgive a typo or two, but if it occurs enough times that I recall it being an issue? Then it's definitely too many. The binding is pathetic. Even after only a few readthroughs, there are pages threatening to come loose. This is with normal usage and wear. You'd think in an art book, considering these books often have multi-page spreads, that they'd make sure the book binding quality was solid. It's an art book - it's meant to be flipped through and the art looked at; I don't think wanting my pages to lay flat is an unreasonable ask.Especially considering how much Udon delayed this book's release with no explanation, the poor binding and editing is incredibly disappointing. Wouldn't trust any art book they release after this letdown.

Must have for SMT IV fans
If you like Shin Megami Tensei IV, definitely get this book. As the title implies, it's mostly about the artwork of the game. But it also fills in more of the story. I thought SMT IV had a good story in the game, but a bit under developed. This help patch some holes so the game makes a little more sense. Also, I doubt I'll ever play through the game again because it takes so long, but I always wanted to know what happens if you take one of the other plot paths. While this doesn't describe the endings in detail, it does give some general ideas. I wish all Atlus RPG's got a book like this.

The print quality is great and it makes all the art inside look gorgeous
An absolutely stunning art book that gives you a lot of insight into the art direction of Shin Megami Tensei IV. The print quality is great and it makes all the art inside look gorgeous! It's also packed with commentary and interviews with the different artists, which is very enlightening and fun to read. Definitely a great buy for anyone who loved Shin Megami Tensei IV

Get this if you liked SMT IV!
Fantastic artwork of one of my favorite handheld games. The character and demon designs are a marvel to look at and is worth the price. It's hard to appreciate the great artwork on only the 3DS. I highly recommend it.

You don't need the game to enjoy the art here
This is a very good art book. It covers the characters, environments and a good assortment of demon designs as well. I've never played this particular game but do enjoy viewing the pieces in this book.

Has everything, but not really worth the purchase
I loved the game but this was pretty disappointing. Has pretty much everything you see ingame, but not much else. It devotes way too much of itself to the story scene backgrounds from the game, and there are way too many artist comments when there should have been more room for pictures. The character and demon artwork was nice, but I was expecting more early iterations of their designs than what I got. The CG and extra artwork sections had some nice areas, but were mostly disappointing and had little to them.I'd love to recommend this given how great the game is, but I can't. If you want an artbook that sets a gold standard that this should have followed, check out the Atelier Artworks of Arland book.

Worth it
It has crisp and colorful art, it's long, and there's a lot of great insight into the creative process and story. SMT IV may not be my favorite MegaTen game, but the art book is a great read and looks good on a shelf. At $30, it's practically a steal

Great addition to an SMT/artbook fan's collection
Got it for $32 instead of the MSRP of $50 and for that price you get a very substantial key arts book. The outside of the book is soft cover but is a nice matte finish with embossed letters for the title of the book.Inside features plenty of interview snippets and illustration notes from the artists. It's not an exhaustive tour of SMT4 a la 'The Hyrule Historia' for the Zelda series, but there is a lot of text here which is welcome.Mostly though, the illustrations themselves are gorgeous and full sized in most cases, taking up entire pages in a vertical format, so if you don't like two page spreads with the spine down the middle, you're in for a treat as most of them are single paged.Plenty of concept art for the varied environments from the game along with NPCs and characters. You're finally able to see all that work in sharp, vividly reproduced scans, now that it's been removed from the 3DS's muddy limitations. And of course, there's the full page character artworks of Flynn, Walter, Isabeau, Jonathan, etc.If you own the limited edition release of SMTIV, you would have had access to the strategy guide which is neither a worthy substitute for a strategy guide (it really only takes you as far as the early areas of Tokyo, aka 1/4 of the game at most), nor is it a worthy substitute for an artbook as it only features 4 pages or so.This is what you've been waiting for. Sure it's quite belated seeing as how the game itself is 3+ years old now and the original JP release of the artbook is just as old, but good on UDON for localizing and bringing this over to the West in English for all to enjoy.Right in time for SMTIV Final, if/when that ever comes out of Japan.
