It depends upon what type of application you are going to install. See Below : SECURING SEAMS: Use one spike every 4"inches to secure each side of a seam. Add one spike to the top and bottom corner of each piece as well. SECURING OUTSIDE EDGE: Use one spike every 6"inches to secure outside edge of your artificial turf product.

Yes they are galvanized (Zinc Coating) stemming the corrosion process.
