Good advice to anyone wanting to open a boutique
A good guide to the novice. This book will subdue those wildly exuberant starry eyed quickly. The realities of thought necessary to really look at the amount of detail required to get a storefront business off the ground may stop some people in their tracks. A good thing perhaps. Getting into shop keeping is not for the faint. I liked the overall look at needs and costs. The Landlord and lease to me are crucial elements to ongoing success and I agree a good lawyer is necessary to insure you do not lease into the lease from Hades. Many businesses are out of business in a few short years simply because the terms of the lease just would not let a shop keeper ever really get ahead of their expenses. A book like this is not complete but business never is definite. Good advise, and useful tools expressing what to look for, and, the reality of start up costs, is invaluable. A good bedside read.

I could tell this author was a authority on the subject as she gave solid advice from her own experiences.
First step this author got into was developing a business plan and all that goes into that. Figure out your budget - which she advises you on how to do it. I liked the fact that she elaborated on all the many expenses involved in having a boutique and then elaborated on actual revenues you can expect on making based on your store size and inventory. Another area she covered was all the factors to consider on who you want to sell to and where your location should be. As I kept reading, I thought that this author doesn't miss a thing. She got into how and where to buy your inventory. She covered what kind of systems and policies you need to have in place. How to determine who to hire for your store. And last, but not least the author covered how to market and promote your store and its products.

Not worth the $14.00 !!!
I just received this " book" and was so dissapointed to see nothing more than a large " booklet" of only 48 pages. I bought another title and the book was similar in size but I only paid $7 for it so I didn't feel so ripped off. Sorry Briana but not a nice thing to do to people who think they are getting a real book.

Straight Forward Checklist
I appreciate the straight forward outline in this book. Truthfully, these are all steps that I had established for myself after reading one other book. The financial advice is consistent with other books and can be absorbed quickly and easily. This book should be seen as "steps to be taken" which can be helpful if one wants to hit the ground running. The author's website/blog listed under the author description doesn't exist, and she is not listed on bullcitypublishing.com as one of the authors. Also, Bull City Publishing website is not a fully realized website. By that I mean that the contact page still has the gibberish that comes with a website template. What does this mean to me? I question the authority of the author when she presents information about herself that can't be found. In the end, this is a good checklist and can guide your thought process.

This is a great book!
This is a great book!! It's only 48 pages but the author fills so much important information into those pages!!! I learnt sooo much from this book without all the extra text and pages cluttering my mind! I would definitely recommend it to anybody who has never been in retail or never opened their own business/retail business. Great book!
