is sender for a light or a guage?

This is a sender for an oil pressure gauge, in my case a 1973 Chevy Corvette.

Description says with gauge, is there a picture of the gauge?

FOR cars with gauges. Does not include a gauge.

Does anyone know what size the threaded end is?

the thread does not matter .this is junk .i bought 2 so far they become intermittant open.that tab on the top is molded into unit.the metal tap is not soldered in its. just pressure from assembly holding the connection. i have seen some with a bolt on wire .may be better. i would not buy this again.

is this a sender or a switch and is it regularly open or closed?

This is a sender, not a switch. It will send the correct signal for older style oil pressure gauge, but will not work if your car has only the warning light without gauge.
