Q: Are these the good ones that come with swiss army knives, or are they the chintzy kind?

Oh yes, they're the same ones that come with the knives. They're so good, I use them for lots of other things. The seem to be made from stainless spring steel. The small ones are about 3/8" outside dia, the large ones are about 5/8. You might consider getting a pkg of each. The large one will hold my car key and two door keys, and the result is much less bulk in my pocket.

Q: What is the wire diameter/thickness of the key ring?

It appears to be the same as a keyring on a Victorinox Swiss Army knife. Slightly smaller ring.
