If you are a serious wine drinker or plan on becoming one, then you know you should invest in good stemwares. Sure, you don't drink the glass, but I do believe that they contribute to your enjoyment of the wines. Plus, they look nice.But at the same time, good wine glasses can be expensive. Riedel, in particular, is overrated and overpriced in my opinion. Compared to the Riedel counterparts in the same price range (their "Wine" series, which in fact typically costs $5~10 dollars more), these Spieglau glasses are just as finely made but less expensive. The glass is thin, and the bowl is adequately capacious. You can swirl a good amount of wine in there comfortably and get a really good feel for the wine's nose, which is aided even further by the tapered rim. I drink a lot of pinot noir and nebbiolo, which are supposedly the best suited varieties for these glasses, but I use them for everything anyway because I like them so much. I will be buying more as replacements soon.A note to everyone, including myself: Don't leave wine glasses in the sink after you've used them. That's just inviting a disaster. These glasses are quite sturdy despite their thinness but they will not withstand a hung-over clown knocking pans into them.

The large balloon Speigelaus are my only choice for fine reds because their large surface area releases and concentrates the fragrance. Over a few minutes you notice how the flavor of the wine changes as it is exposed to air in the glass.I began buying these glasses several years ago because they were large, feel like delicate crystal, but are durable, (+ they make a beautiful tone when you run your finger around the rim!) We run them through the dishwasher so we've had a few casualties over the years. If you wash them by hand they would last forever!

They came individually wrapped in bubble wrap completely secure inside their product box. The shipping box however contained minimal packing material, just like the Spiegelau Salute Champagne glasses I ordered at the same time; that showed up with the glasses in pieces. Amazon needs to do a more thorough job of packing, but they did replace them without shipping costs. Nice of them.

They're big and very thick--not the Riedel-like experience I was hoping for. Would have cost as much as I paid to return it, so I kept them. I'll try them through my dishwasher.

These are a little smaller that I expected. I bought them to replace another glass that had broken, and though the picture looked the same, the glasses were about an inch shorter than my previous glasses from Spiegelau. I thought both were burgundy glasses, so I'm not sure why the difference. It also seems a bit less delicate than my other Spiegelau glasses. That said, the price was great and the glasses are still quite nice.

I first read about this wine glass in an article in The Wall Street Journal, "How to Select a Good Wine Glass". The Spiegelau "Vino Grande" Burgundy was the glass the authors had been using for almost a decade. They were trying out new wine glasses to possibly replace the Spiegelau "Vino Grande" Burgundy glass. The authors had stated this wine glass was the perfect everyday glass and was so very comfortable. They weren't kidding!!! I am very impressed on the look and feel of these glasses. I opened a bottle of one of my favorite wines and was amazed! The Spiegelau "Vino Grande" Burgundy glass totally enhanced the taste and bouquet of my already favorite wine. The other reviews are correct in saying this glass is fun to drink wine out of. This glass makes my wine drinking experience that much more enjoyable! I am recommending this wine glass to everyone!!!

I absolutely love these wine glasses. They are light, thin glasses - the kind that you would expect to be served wine in a fabulous wine bar. But they are not cheaply made at all! The quality is solid. It says they are dishwasher safe but I prefer to hand wash. I love the large bulbous shape, it allows any wine to open up beautifully and I don't feel awful if they happen to break, I just hope that Spiegelau continues to make these beauties.

Spiegelau makes the finest high-quality wine glasses. These glasses are exactly like a set we received as a gift many years ago. We wanted to replace some that we had broken. The glass is very thin, with virtually no "lip" at the rim. Great large bowls provide lots of room for aromas to develop and then concentrate at the narrower top. The high-quality glass gives a satisfying ring when gently clinked for a toast! Great product, Spiegelau!
