Rehab Science: How to Overcome Pain and Heal from Injury

Clear photographs and I like the author's philosophy: "become your own physical therapist".
For visual people who like lots of photos showing how to do the different moves, it is a very good book. Dr. Walter's philosophy is to teach you how to become your own physical therapist. I recently went to see a physical therapist for one session and decided this person was not very good, so I looked up some videos on YouTube to teach myself how to get better. For someone who struggled with chronic ankle injury issues for decades, I simply followed a few of Dr. Walter's Rehab Science YouTube videos and after a few sessions, I felt such a huge difference and no longer had sore ankles after doing 30-minute elliptical exercise, for example. He provides excellent explanations. At first, I browsed the library copy and then decided I needed my own hard copy. It is an investment in one's well-being.

Absolutely worth every Penny!!!!
I had an accident years ago where I broke my back , and my neck.L4, L5 lower back brokenC7 , C6 , brokenHad surgeries and all was ok, until this last year I re injured my neck with 3 new herniated vertebraeAnd a broken fusion of C7 C6Why is this important?Well if any one has the experience to break down the whole system of going to a doctors office then going to a PT ( physical therapist) and feeling like you're not getting enough out of the time with your PT well it’s because you don’t have anything to present to them. What do I mean? For years I would show up and say It hurts here( point at neck) and we would do an exercise and 40 mins later I’m out of PT and going about my day. Insurance companies don’t like to pay for anything more than 45min per visit with a PT at the hospital my experience at least. I really didn’t know what was happening with my body, and I had no reference to explain to my PT for us to pin point the issue , this BOOK !! Changed everything!!!!With in the first week I was able to present this to my PT and in his words “wow! this is a great book” as to which I agreed.Together we pin pointed every aspect of the healing process through the correct movement. I was able to show him what I felt needed to be focused on, and he wrote in the book exactly what steps to follow not only as for my current focus like Nerve Mobilization, but I was able to build the correct work out plan to not only heal myself but also more importantly to not injure myself more because of improper movement. With this book you learn to be your own PT .You learn your body. You learn to move correctly. You get so much information from this book, you will learn what pain is , what the pain loop is .You will learn injury grades. You will learn mechanism of injury. You get detail instructions from Dr.Tom with photos and notes so you can perform your exercises without concern of hurting yourself. This book covers whole body movements.I highly recommend this to anyone who suffers from any and all pain it’s a game changer, knowing how to operate our body is the number one thing we overlook, and Dr. Tom rehab book doesn’t allow you to walk around in pain or ignorance of how to not make the correct movements.Stay healthy , stay fit , stay in rehab science it’s worth your time and energy!Happy healing !!!And again THANK YOU DR. Tom WaltersYou are very much appreciated for the work you put into this great project.Very happy customer here !!!!

An Outstanding Resource for Trainers, Parents, and Anyone Recovering from Injury
As a personal trainer with 17 years of experience, I have a solid understanding of movement mechanics and exercise technique. However, I’m not a physical therapist, and when my daughter dislocated her knee, I knew that prescribing the right exercises for her recovery was outside my professional scope. This book has been an invaluable resource in helping me bridge that gap. It offers a clear, structured approach to rehabilitation through a well-designed three-phase system that emphasizes gradual, safe progression. The content is written in a straightforward and accessible way, and the exercise demonstrations, complete with photos, make it easy to apply what you’ve learned.Whether you’re a fitness professional looking to deepen your knowledge or someone simply trying to understand and address your own pain, this book is a must-read. It empowers you with practical tools to safely restore strength, mobility, and function.

Well documented and researched and not gimmicky
Fantastic book. No gimmicks. None of the flashy toes over knees stuff of people doing par core to show how fabulous their "book is" - science based and extremely clear pics and exercises

An OUTSTANDING Resource
I'm a personal trainer. Often I have to deal with persons who are coming out of physical therapy or choose to self-refer to chiropractors and physical therapy "clinics". My first question is always...why? What "pain" where they "fixing"? And if I am to bring them back into a better state of overall "conditioning" I need to affirm and reinforce whatever these other practitioners were addressing and "do no harm" by making pain causing matters worse. Too often the PT folks are just throwing time honored protocols at the problem that may or may not be totally relevant. THIS BOOK IS TOTALLY RELEVANT AND THEN SOME. It can help de-construct what the PT folks might have been addressing and put the average person on the right track if what they were doing is not the most relevant or even irrelevant. It is fully illustrated, carefully written, weighs a ton :) and is worth every cent you will spend.

Surprisingly fantastic
When evaluating a textbook I look at how it’s organized. Ease of access to what I am looking for. Call me old school at 38 yrs old but I need a physical book. I have to say this is incredibly well-organized, comprehensive, and easy to follow. I will be translating it to patient care. The illustrations help those who have a tough time visualizing. I also like the evidence-based approach
