Really great kettle, a vast improvement over heating up water on the stove.
I make coffee every day with a pour-over coffee maker, sometimes if I have a guest I also use a vacuum coffee maker (to make regular coffee, I only drink decaf). Both require hot water. For years I've just been using a teapot on the stove. The downsides are that it takes a lot of power, it heats it hotter than I want (and I have to let it cool for a bit), and it takes a while to heat up.With the electric kettle, all of those problems are solved . . . not to mention I pour the exact amount of filtered water each day because I can see the amount with the measurements on the clear side. It heats up water WAY faster than my stove, but uses a lot less power. It leaves an extra space on my stove (where the teapot used to reside), and I can set the temperature to just below boiling. Here are a couple of downsides, and keep in mind that they are not so much downsides as things that could make it perfect for me and the exact way I use it:1. You can only select pre-set temperatures. This will work for 99% of people, and still works better for me than the old stove-top kettle did. If I were to design it just for me, I would make it where you can scroll through temperatures quickly and set an exact temperature (say, 210° . . . although it probably isn't really quite that precise).2. As soon as you take it off the base it shuts off. When I put it back on I just push the "warm" button, but that keeps it at a temperature a bit lower than I want as I keep pouring it over the coffee. Again, this is a 100% improvement over the way that I was doing it before, but my dream kettle would have a tiny battery that would keep the setting for at least 60 seconds as I pour and set it back.3. My dream kettle would also use the tiny battery (or some sort of programmable setting) to remember the setting I always use. Again, 100% better than my old way . . . but if I were going to customize it to fit my personal desires, this would be a great change. :)In the end, if you are looking for an inexpensive electric stand-alone kettle with programmable temperature, simple/easy-to-use design, aesthetically pleasing, easy to clean, and works really fast . . . this is definitely the one for you.

Started leaking from the sight glass after a few weeks.
Great product. Has preset temperature control settings. Works very fast. Looks cool with the blue LED. Doesn't spill or dribble when pouring. Love itAddendum to this product. After a few months of using this product, I started to notice puddles of water around my coffee area. My coffee station is right next to the diah rack so I just assumed that someone was being sloppy when doing the dishes. After cleaning up a rather big puddle , I set up my kettle and french press for the morning. Later that evening , I noticed a puddle forming. After investigation I found that my Kettle was leaking from the sight glass. I will need to get a new one. I am less than impressed with the durability of this product.

Best Electric Tea Pot Overall
I have been using a kettle on the stove for years. I have had other electric pots but the biggest drawback was I would forget about them and the water would get cool. This has a keep warm feature which the others did not. You turn it on then press a 2nd button for it to stay below boiling. The water comes up to a boil then cools down. You can choose what temp for the keep warm. This boils faster than the other pots I had. I've eliminated my Mr. Coffee and now boil the water then use a Melita cone over my mug. So I am using less counter space. My stove uses propane which is more expensive than natural gas. This pot boils the water much faster than the stove top so I am saving money there. Not to mention the danger of my stove top tea pot boiling dry. The price is less than my other electric pots and they didn't have the keep warm or heat as fast. Other reviews said the water had a metallic taste. Not mine. Haven't had it long so I don't know how long the lid will last or the seal on the window. The only con so far is it is heavier than the other electric pots. But the trade off is worth it.
O**!
A couple suprises, but an overall great electric kettle!!!
My electric kettle arrived this afternoon and I've already used it twice. It seems to work perfectly, heating water much faster than the old plastic one it replaced. I love the blue LED display and light inside, which helps watch the water come to a boil. Is it weird that I enjoyed watching water boil? Anyway, I would have given it 5 stars, but there are a couple inaccuracies in the description that came as a surprise, one good, one bad. Which do you want first? Bad? OK, but it's not really that bad, it's just that the pot is 1.8 quarts, not the full 2 quarts advertised on Amazon. I have a big family and making a big pot of tea for all of us to sit down and enjoy is important, so every additional ounce matters, but it takes no time to heat more water. I just don't like being lied to. LOL! The good surprise is that it is cordless, which is not included in the description. In fact, the answers to one of the questions about the kettle even reiterated that it was corded. Well, sure the base is corded, like all other "cordless" kettles, but the pot itself has no attached cord, which I am happy about. I almost cancelled my order when I read through the item more carefully and concluded it had a cord attached. If you made it this far in my review, bless you. The bottom line is I think this electric kettle is great for this price point. Now go have some tea and think of England!

Minor design flaws cause big product failure!
I don't want to write a bad review about this product because the important parts work fine. The pot heats up water to various temperatures as advertised. The problem is that the button that you push to open the lid does not always work. It is hard to heat your water when you can't get the lid open. I have found that if you take your finger and jam it onto the button repeatedly, the lid will eventually open, but a poorly functioning mechanism like that really detracts from the product. I have also noticed recently that there seems to be some corrosion at the welds around the edge of the spout. I want to send this back, but apparently I didn't submit my return request soon enough and my window has closed.
