Why are these not returnable? Other Sony earbuds on Amazon are.

Amazon is weird. Sometimes the item allows for returns and sometimes it doesn't. A few days ago, returns wasn't available for this item but I checked today and I was able to process the return.

Can you use the left or right while charging the other?

You can you use either right or left independently, but you lose half of the push button abilities that the headphones have.

Do they come with wings or anything to help keep them in ears?

No wings. The ear buds are pretty light weight and the rubber tips have worked well for me (including while running).

How many mics do these earbuds have?

If you want to wear only one it must be the left one. If you want to rotate the left one between ears that is what you would have to do.
