but pretty sure I'll notice the beep if it goes off
Blew a water softener in the middle of the night. Next morning, and 17,000 gals of water later, the garage had 4 inches of water in it. Opened the garage door and the title wave that flowed out washed my front yard into the street. Replaced the water softener putting it next to the water heater, poured some water in the area, and noted where it first pooled. Placed the sensor at that point and mounted it to the wall. closed the bedroom and garage door and pressed the test button. Wife said barely audible from the bedroom with the door closed, but can hear it in the living room and the constant beep would be hard to miss even at low volume. Put another one next to the washer. Hope I never hear them EVER because of a water leak, but pretty sure I'll notice the beep if it goes off. Better than flooding the garage. Would give it 5 stars if it was louder.

Unit was DOA!
I wanted a water alarm to install near my basement water heater and sump pump to warn of water leaks or a pump malfunction. This Sonin unit was DOA out of the box. Since the unit is easy to disassemble I decided to take a quick look at the circuit board and test the battery connector (the cheap 9V battery connectors are notorious for having broken wires inside of them). The problem was a bad solder joint on a surface mount transistor. In fact the soldering on the entire board is terrible looking. I was able to re-solder the bad joint and bring my unit to life, saving me the hassle of RMA,Once fixed, this alarm seems to work as specified. When either sensor gets wet the alarm goes off (sounds like a smoke detector). To silence the alarm you must manually hit the reset button on the side. I put this in the basement of my century old house and can easily hear this through the floor in the living room (directly above where it is installed). The quality from the manufacturer seems very low. I'm an engineer with experience fixing modern electronics so I was able to fix mine easily. Bad solder joints from the factory means that the alarm will either be DOA like I experienced or have a greatly reduced lifespan (unit will start working intermittently and eventually stop working entirely). If you are depending on a water alarm to protect some high dollar equipment, avoid this product and spend the extra money on something better.Edit: After 7 months of being installed, this unit drains the battery and doesn't work anymore. I'm not even going to bother troubleshooting it and will just buy something better.

False alarms - almost useless.
After forgetting the water running in the kitchen sink, I bought this as a safety device. I didn't want to mop up gallons of water on my floor again. Testing it was AOK - when the sensor pins were immersed - even just the tips - the alarm would sound - loud, but not deafening. The little suction cup attached the sensor to the sink wall and it remained there.I had high hopes for this device. After about two weeks, the alarm sounded during the night. However, the sink was dry, and the sensor pins were not wet. False alarms are not helpful - making the device all but useless. Sorry but I can't recommend this. Looking for a reliable (higher quality higher cost) device.

good product
Actuly had it go off for the first time last night and it does its job the only downside is its not quite as loud as I hoped it to be. I own a two story house so its very hard to hear it from the basment to my bedroom on the 2nd floor. On the first floor you could hear it with easily

Inexpensive Insurance Against an Expensive problem
After replacing our basement foundation drainage system, we installed the sensor on the side of the sump pump well to warn of sump pump failure. It also sits next to our washing machine, so it will warn if a hose or valve fails on that, as well. We tested it with a small bit of water and it sounded immediately. It's plenty loud to hear upstairs or even on the second floor. I like that it has a remote sensor so the alarm itself is well off the floor. We hung it on the wall behind the washing machine. Like a fire alarm, we hope we never need it, but it's good to have.

High quality, great price
As soon as I took this out of the box I was immediately impressed. You can tell right away that it is a quality device. I ave had several of these and not only were they cheap, they also looked cheap. This one has a more substantial wire to start with, feels more solid and looks more like a quality product. I plan to buy more soon in case I want to place more around my home

Just what I needed
This is loud enough for our house and it's nicer than the one I got at a home improvement store a few years ago. I like having one so I don't have to worry if the sub pump is not working.

Time will tell
Seems kind of "chincy" but didn't cost that much so I guess I'm not disappointed. We installed it for a customer and won't know if it performs as claimed until they have a water issue.
