Just OK for me
It is a nice book with good photography but I much prefer how to books to be spiral bound. The instruction are very good and the projects are OK, But I have to say rather than inspire me, ( I love most crafts) it made me realize that although I am a avid jewelry designer, crocheter and beader, this is one craft that just doesn't do it for me. I don't like the idea that it will stretch and I think a beaded rope looks better without the crochet, Don't get me wrong I love the chunky look of some of the jewelry but again the crochet just seems to get in the way. For instance if I want a bead soup bracelet, I would much prefer to crochet a bracelet in a pretty yarn, tack it to embroidery canvas and sew on the beads I choose. not having to worry about the hole size in the beads as I can adjust the needle I use and place a size 15 seed next to a large focal bead if I wish and can keep adding until I am satisfied. Then I line the bracelet with soft merino felt which feels great next to the skin and hides any back stitches, The look is similar but it will never stretch out of shape. I hate to be a wet blanket but I just don't see the point of bead crochet. For me it just adds nothing that you can't acheive easier and better without it.

Accidental Purchase
I am not used to my Kindle yet so I was surprised when this book arrived in the mail....I thought I had just looked at it online, but I guess I hit the magic button. I am an avid crocheter and I love beads and jewelry making as well. I was impressed at how clearly everything is explained in this book and what lovely photos they have! I can't wait to try my first project and I must say this is the BEST "Mistake" I have ever made! Needless to say I will be keeping the book. I am not sure if this book would be good for beginning crocheters (it would depend on the crocheter), but definitely intermediate and beyond. If you have the basics down and you want to add a little flair try this book out! The authors did a wonderful job. I love how easy it is to read and enjoy....as well as inspirational! You will find mostly tubular bead crochet information and projects, but there are a few pieces in the beginning of the book that use just the basic crochet. I was originally looking for something that showed more with wire and crochet, but this book is gorgeous and so much fun!

Love this book!
I am a big Dana Freed fan because I know her and Bert through our local yarn store, Knitty City. Then I took a couple of bead crochet classes and was hooked (no pun intended). When I learned that they had produced a book, I was thrilled. And what a book! Whimsical vintage props provide a perfect backdrop for the stunning designs. Sometimes I just love to browse through to enjoy the photography. But it's more than a pretty face. There is basic general information, followed by step-by-step instructions, along with plenty of encouragement. Even a beginner can handle it; and I should know, I'm a beginner! I even have pages 80-83 flagged because I can never quite remember how do an invisible join for a circular crochet bracelet and must review the instructions. (I don't understand that negative review because I find those instructions completely helpful.) It's like having my own personal Dana to explain things. I've made around 10 necklaces and more than 20 bracelets ... so far. When I need inspiration, I just refer to the book. I love this book!

Good Bead Crochet Rope Instruction
Now here is finally a book you can actually learn from. The instructions are clear and concise, the photos are excellent and she walks you through each step of the process. Having done this before, I can tell you it's no easy feat to begin these ropes. They are very tricky, take a lot of concentration and you really have to pay attention to the stringing process of your patterns. That said, this is the best book I have found so far to simplify the process and give wonderful color examples for the ropes. I will refer to this one a LOT.If you have the patience to persist with this, they are very fun to make once you learn the process. The possibilities are endless as to the combinations you can use.AWESOME BOOK

Great book for your bead crochet library...
A couple of tips in this book I had not seen before: one- easy method of starting bead crochet rounds using “cheater beads” and best way to remove out of sequence beads. Couldn’t help but wonder why I didn’t think of that before. Authors cover materials, tools, getting started, chain stitch, circular bead crochet with beginning, intermediate and advanced projects; also advanced tips and tricks. Book is well worth the cost and a great addition to bead crochet library. Easy one to recommend.

Its a load of fun!
I really love beading and therefore I was really excited when I heard about bead crochet. I already knew how to crochet and thought it would be fun to give bead crochet a try. The book has a lot of fun patterns to try and I love the fact that in the front of the book it you a guide on what type of string to use for the different bead sizes for your bead crochet. I made the the bead earrings that were close to the end of the book and they came out wonderfully. The bead crochet technique takes a little time and patience and might be a little challenging for beginners but I would still recommend this book to anyone who loves to bead

Review for left handers!
I am writing this review from the point of view of a left-hander.Many crochetters are left-handed, crochet isn't just for right handers. That is where I think this book is really lacking explanations.Basically, as an experienced left handed crochetter, I managed the spiral fine (I already knew how to bead crochet). The beginning of the spiral wasn't hard to do and I thought the explanations were good.Came the joining of the piece to make the bangle... As I was studying the pictures, trying to reverse everything in my head, I realised my spiral wasn't going in the same direction as the one on the picture. That's when I really had to think hard, it took me about 2 hours of doing/undoing my work and I finally cracked it! I guess I did it Ok as the join is more or less invisible but I would have loved to see instructons written (with photos).Would a right hander enjoy following a bunch of instructions written especially for left handers? I don't think so.Left handers are part of the human race, why not write instructions for them???Another point I'd like to make is there aren't any explanation on how to follow a chart or design these lovely fancy patterns you find on the net. All the patterns are quite plain, but still pretty. I was a little dissapointed about this as I was expecting more from this book after reading the great reviews. To finish on a good note, the book contains really interesting ways of finishing the pieces and I am totally delighted with my bangle. Also thought the book is very inspiting with all the little stories scattered through it.
