Can his head go up and down or only side to side?

We do not have one out of the retail packaging, but it looks like the head will only go side to side.

The one we got did but I don't know the original source of it. We got it for a Christmas gift for my 9 year old knowing he wanted it to play with rather than collect. It's really a collectible since it is quite detailed and really nice but not very durable for play. But it did come in the original packaging and both the package and toy was in excellent condition
