We restore and repurpose these 1960s vintage Belgian gas mask bags to be used as beer growler panniers! They are the perfect size for a 62oz growler bottle, but they also work great for wine, especially the shorter, wide bottom bottles like chardonnay or pinot noir. We add salvaged leather snap loops to the back of these bags that easily attach to the top your bicycles rear rack, and another loop to the mid-back panel of the bag attaches it to the lower part of your rack to anchor it down while you ride. The built-in shoulder strap makes it easy to tote your spoils after you park you bike and tucks neatly inside the bag to stay out of the way while you cycle. This bag is made out of a heavy-duty tightly woven cotton canvas that has a slight water resistance. You can even put ice inside the bag to keep your growler cold but it will eventually seep through once the ice has melted so be sure to dump it out before it makes a mess.
