This unique San Andreas Exports product is handcrafted by expert artisans using black ceramic, known as barro negro, which was traditionally made by the Zapotecs and Mixtecs people of Oaxaca, Mexico.

The particular polishing and firing process is what makes the color of these pieces so unique. By polishing the clay with quartz and then firing the pieces at a lower temperature, the pottery pieces emerge shiny and black. The distinct color of barro negro is naturally occurring and free of any dyes.
