Cocoon by Sealy Cocoon Mattress, Queen, White

When our mattress first arrived the box was destroyed from water damage. The UPS Driver wanted us to approve it before she removed it from the truck . The mattress itself was wrapped tightly in plastic and undamaged . We have been sleeping on the bed for three weeks now and find it to be extremely comfortable. My husband who weighs 185 pounds is saying he loves it and has been sleeping much better. I was skeptical as I had to have four layers of memory foam on top of our old memory foam mattress which was hard as a rock. After a few nights of using my memory foam pads on top I finally removed them and cannot believe how soft and comfortable this mattresses is. I'm a side sleeper and my husband sleeps on his back. I can tell there is a sense of coolness that we didn't have before. I tend to get hot at night due to my medical issues which is uncomfortable and I actually have been feeling a little cold. My husband is complaining of me robbing the blankets during the night when usually I'm throwing them off onto the floor. The reason I am leaving that feedback is some people say they cannot tell the difference with the cooling cover. I know was much more pricy with it but I am temperature sensitive and can definitely tell the difference even with a thin mattress protector over it . We live in Florida.

First of all, I was expecting something cooling for a $800 mattress labeled as "chill." My $20 cool pillow is 20x better than this mattress. It is hot. Your back will sweat into it and you will feel like you're in a swamp. I thought it would have some of the cooling "chambers" other expensive mattresses have. Second of all, this mattress is at least 80 pounds. It is impossible to lift onto the bed and unroll by yourself. You will sweat and heave to get this mattress onto your bed and then you will have to spend an hour cutting off all of the plastic. Lastly, I don't know where/how Amazon is getting their inventory but I got a box that was clearly beaten to hell, shipped to another customer and then returned. There is another address label on the box as well as an FBA "Returns" label on it that no one even bothered to hide. There is also another label on the box that shows that this box came from an Amazon third party seller instead of Amazon.com (like it says in my receipt). All in all, this is a really shady experience. I'd really like to return this item but the logistics of trying to haul this 80 pound monstrosity back out is going to kill me. I have no way to "repack" this but I really don't want to keep this.

Having two other Cocoon mattresses, I ordered one here when I needed another one. For whatever reason, the mattress I received did not feel as good as the ones I ordered directly from the manufacturer. The first red flag was that the box arrived looking very beat-up, like it has been around for a while. The top of the box was ripped open and there was no pamphlet inside. When I slept on the mattress, it was way too firm. Although I ordered the firm mattress, I have two others, so I know what it is supposed to feel like. It should have a 2-inch top layer of memory foam. In this case, that layer felt like it was compressed and did not respond like typical memory foam. I slept on it for a couple of weeks hoping it would feel better, but it never did. Ultimately, I had to request a refund. Amazon did honor the warranty and refunded my money, but I could not return the mattress. So, I was stuck with a mattress I could not sleep on comfortably. I'm trying to see if I can donate it to charity so I can get a new mattress.

My first experience with a memory foam mattress and I have to say that it’s been a very positive one. Went with the soft, queen size and while it took a night or two to get used to, I now can’t recommend this mattress enough. The balance of soft and firm is where you feel comfortablely cushioned, yet there’s a certain amount of support that doesn’t make you feel like you’ve sunk into a massive sponge. The chill technology is definitely a plus factor. It’s winter here in Montana so I was a bit worried that slipping into bed every night might be too chilly, but I have yet to feel overwhelmed by any sort of coldness. I use two fairly thick blankets, and while it seems I don’t bake underneath them, it’s the chill tech coupled with the warm blankets that make for a perfect combo for a comfortable climate for a good nights rest. Over all I am 100% satisfied with this mattress. I picked up the matching box spring from Sealy, and together they have been amazing. Only complaint is I have a harder time getting out of bed in the morning.

Used to have a pillow top mattress that wore out and caused serious back pain for my husband and I. We did a lot of research on all of the “mattress in a box” brands and settled on the Sealy Cocoon Chill. I’m so glad we did. It is one of the comfiest mattresses I’ve ever laid on. You can feel the chill feature when you move around. There is also very little to no motion transfer so if I’m rolling around on the bed my husband doesn’t even notice when he’s sleeping. It took just a few minutes for it to be fully unpackaged and raise up. We had no odd spots at all, the mattress raised up perfectly. There was the odor that everyone warns about but we left the sheets off, windows open and fan on for a day and it went away...unless you put your nose right to the mattress but a week later and that was no longer the case. We’ve been sleeping on it for a year and a half now and it’s still holding up great!

It's super comfortable and I don't feel my husband toss and turn like I could on our old bed. I bought it mainly for the "chill" factor, and that leaves a bit to be desired. I have thyroid issues and I still get very hot and sweaty during the night. Oh well, I'll just turn on my trusty fan. I do find it odd though, I went to wash my sheets after the first month of so of using it, and there are weird little black spots on it. I've had a mattress cover on it, so its not stained, so I'm not sure if there's something in it breaking down or what. But I've contacted Sealy and am waiting to hear back.
