Q: Is the comforter generous enough to hang over the sides more than a few inches?

The comforter is not wide enough to cover the sides of the mattress. I would not recommend it for that reason. I tried it on the bed both ways and that didn’t work either.

It's not super thick like a winter blanket, but it does keep you nice and warm.
