Cocoon by Sealy Chill Firm Foam Mattress, California King

i recently purchased this mattress directly from Sealy as Amazon was sold out. i got the chill soft mattress (full size). there are two main problems that one encounters with memory foam mattresses. first, low quality (less dense) foam can literally rip your back to shreds because with lower density foam, you sink into the mattress in an unnatural position without any support for your spine. second, heat. most memory foam mattress trap a lot of heat and if you are a hot sleeper like i am, then it can be unbearable some nights.the Sealy cocoon mattress solves both of these problems. the soft version is really quite firm (offers a ton of support), but it is very plush when you lay on it (you sink ever so slightly). if you do decide to roll over or move on the bed, it does not leave any indentation at all. the bed snaps right back to its original flat position. it's extremely comfortable and after sleeping on it for a few nights to break it in, i had no back issues at all. it's so comfortable, that i literally felt paralyzed throughout the night. i stayed in the same position without rolling over once (i'm a side sleeper). when i woke up, i didn't even know where i was at first. that's how hard i slept on this thing. i would say the sleep comfort is on par with tempurpedic mattresses but at a fraction of the price.the Sealy cocoon mattress in the chill version has their proprietary phase change material embedded in the ultra soft cover for the mattress. this stuff is very cool to the touch at first. after a while it heats up somewhat but never gets too hot. if i move my leg to another part of the mattress, that part of the mattress feels cold for a bit. it's pretty awesome. i have not had any temperature issues with this bed.the mattress is actually quite heavy (80 pounds shipping weight) because of the high density foam (it is solid as a rock). this mattress is a bit pricey compared to the other brands that are on Amazon, but it is a high quality foam that they use so the money is well spent. if you don't have the money to get a tempurpedic bed, then get this one instead. you won't be disappointed.

I've struggled with sleeping well over the last couple of years and woke often with considerable back pain. I've had this mattress now for about 4 weeks. The first week was rough and I was honestly looking for what my return options might be. Spoke with a few others that had transitioned from traditional coil spring mattresses to foam mattresses like this one, and they expressed that it took them a few weeks to adjust. It tok my body about 2 weeks to settle into the foam mattress but now I truly love it. I wake without back pain.I agree with what others have stated in that this 'soft' mattress is quite supportive. I can't imagine what the firm version would feel like.Happy customer here!

When our mattress first arrived the box was destroyed from water damage. The UPS Driver wanted us to approve it before she removed it from the truck . The mattress itself was wrapped tightly in plastic and undamaged . We have been sleeping on the bed for three weeks now and find it to be extremely comfortable. My husband who weighs 185 pounds is saying he loves it and has been sleeping much better. I was skeptical as I had to have four layers of memory foam on top of our old memory foam mattress which was hard as a rock. After a few nights of using my memory foam pads on top I finally removed them and cannot believe how soft and comfortable this mattresses is. I'm a side sleeper and my husband sleeps on his back. I can tell there is a sense of coolness that we didn't have before. I tend to get hot at night due to my medical issues which is uncomfortable and I actually have been feeling a little cold. My husband is complaining of me robbing the blankets during the night when usually I'm throwing them off onto the floor. The reason I am leaving that feedback is some people say they cannot tell the difference with the cooling cover. I know was much more pricy with it but I am temperature sensitive and can definitely tell the difference even with a thin mattress protector over it . We live in Florida.

Love it extremely comfortable and very cool. That was the selling point for me, it is cool at night.

Having two other Cocoon mattresses, I ordered one here when I needed another one. For whatever reason, the mattress I received did not feel as good as the ones I ordered directly from the manufacturer. The first red flag was that the box arrived looking very beat-up, like it has been around for a while. The top of the box was ripped open and there was no pamphlet inside. When I slept on the mattress, it was way too firm. Although I ordered the firm mattress, I have two others, so I know what it is supposed to feel like. It should have a 2-inch top layer of memory foam. In this case, that layer felt like it was compressed and did not respond like typical memory foam. I slept on it for a couple of weeks hoping it would feel better, but it never did. Ultimately, I had to request a refund. Amazon did honor the warranty and refunded my money, but I could not return the mattress. So, I was stuck with a mattress I could not sleep on comfortably. I'm trying to see if I can donate it to charity so I can get a new mattress.
