Dependable Hitachi Quality
I've never owned a Hitachi tool that disappointed... and once again this particular tool excels - Currently working on a new building project and I immediately put this to use as a hammer drill (very surprising performance) and other general construction tasks from boring holes in PT pine to installing construction screws. The balance is nice and the grip comfortable. During some of the toughest trials the chuck stayed tight and locked (as it should)What I like best about Hitachi and this particular drill motor is the feeling that the price is always fair for the quality. Definitely a splendid hefty tool for the serious hobbyist and light construction.the 3MH battery is not only long lasting but is quite easy to remove and install... having two batteries and using a thoughtful charging schedule means no down time..too bad it is discontinued by Hitachi (according to the title)... but there seem to be enough around, if you get them now.

Works well! Just as I had hoped.
I have an old Makita drill with the old 9.6v NiCad batteries from 1991... and although I've had to replace batteries, its been great. However I kept running into situations where I need a hammer drill, and although I've got an old Milwaukee rotohammer... it's heavy, it needs a cord, it's essentially overkill for some of my projects. So my search led me to this Hitachi... and it's great! the hammer drill setting works well, the torque for driving screws is great, and the power per weight aspect is really handy. In the short time I've had it, it's a winner, but time will tell if it holds up as well as my ancient Makita.

Superb Value for Money, Hitachi Tools just keep getting better
I absolutely loved my original Hitachin Drill until I dropped it in the Ocean. Lifetime warranty does not cover this, hmmm too bad. As much as I liked my original, this new Drill is much more versatile with a hammer drill speed, as well as longer lasting 3 Amp Hour Batteries. Brushless advancement is a great advancement.Repeating the Warrantee: Covered by Hitachi's Lifetime Lithium Ion Tool Warranty, 2-Year Lithium Ion Battery Warranty and 1-Year Charger WarrantyGreat value for Tool, 2 Batteries, Charger and a case. Highly Recommend as it is as powerful a drill driver I have ever had. Fully research options, The same tool with 1 Battery, and Charger is $199 and this has 1 additional battery and case for $169.

The great quality you'd expect from Hitachi brushless tools.
Oh this is either my third or fourth different Hitachi cordless drill. Each new model is better than the last. I also have Hitachi's cordless impact drill, reciprocating saw and others. I stick with Hitachi for their great quality. And it's nice to have a different brand on the job site so nobody can snatch your batteries and/or chargers. Plenty of torque to eat up wood and really convenient for wall anchors in concrete instead of breaking out the heavy hammer gun. Feels really nice to hold for long periods of time.
