MainstayEmergency Food Rations - 3600 Calorie Bars (Pack of 20)

This is a good choice for emergency food. Flavor is good. Shelf life is long. Calorie per day is perfect for an emergency situation, but small enough bars to break apart and share if you need less.

When we started buying these in 2018 the quality was hardy; I was able to eat one square with water and feel full as we’re out building shelters and hiking in the mountains. Now I feel I could eat three squares and still have trouble being satisfied. It’s important to keep the quality good as we use these to feed the homeless as well as use them ourselves.

Mainstay 3600 calorie emergency rations come in a pack of 9 bars, 400 calories each. The instructions say in a marine emergency, eat 2 a day; 3 a day in a land environment. You may think this is stretching it, until you eat one. Unlike some other ration products, the bars are not grainy/powdery. They're easy to eat without water, which is very important. Also, unlike some other ration products, these actually gave me energy. They're packed with B vitamins, so that may have something to do with it. They have a bit of a funky smell to them when you open the package, but that is to be expected with any product that has this much fat. An unexpected surprise was that the package is resealable, but the bars are not individually wrapped. The resealing abilities are superb, though; unlike some resealable products where the zipper is destroyed as soon as you open it. Would I recommend you ONLY having these bars? Of course not, get the other brand, too. Between the two of them, you'll be able to trek on without having to eat the same old thing. The shelf life is 5 years and my case was manufactured a month ago, so I appreciate that I will get the full 5 years out of it. I would certainly recommend this product.

My order was delivered very fast and I received the product well before the delivery window. This product is a very compact manner to perform any food prep and is ideal for my storage needs. I have ordered this multiple times between Amazon and other companies and have always received a quality product that is at or near the advertised 5 year shelf life. Piece of mind at an affordable price per serving.

I don't like ordering something and only getting half the order for full price

These taste great but are not exactly food. This is something you would eat when you have no time to stop moving. They are mostly sugar and HFC its fast energy food. Great for evacuation.

These are great for when you need them. Have all the calories and nutrients you need for an emergency and they taste like a lemon bar. Easy to pack, you do not need H2O to "wash them down", and they last forever.

Very fast delivery and long life food. Very happy with the product overall
