I've wanted to try a weighted blanket for some time, as I am a very light sleeper, often anxious, and think I may be developing some restless leg syndrome. However, these sort of products are a bit cost prohibitive, so I waited until collecting some b-day gift cards to lower my own out-of-pocket price point. I chose this blanket over the others offered on Amazon because of a combination of (a) the size, (b) the 'look', (c) the idea that I could double the weight by folding blanket in half, and (d) the removable duvet for ease in washing.The fabric is super-soft and comfy -- especially the non-'bumpy' side. The duvet is well-made, with zipper that nearly hides itself. Unlike other reviewers, I've not had the inside weighted portion separate from the duvet cover, but I did secure the ties tightly, and I've carted the blanket all over the house, from upstairs bedroom to downstairs couch.I really like the feel of being under and wrapped up in the blanket! and must say, the 12 lb. weight is plenty for my average, 5'6, 180 lb frame. I've attempted using it doubled-over, and 24 lb. of pressure is entirely too heavy / cumbersome for me.I enjoy it most as a 'throw' -- wrapped around me for snuggling on the couch for TV/reading or for napping. I've attempted wrapping it around me while sitting upright at the computer desk, but I feel the weight pulls down too much on my shoulders. I've also attempted sleeping the night through with it, and have not been successful -- but I am a 'hot' sleeper anyway and am constantly kicking my regular covers/sheets off and on throughout the night.I'm giving the product 4 stars only because I personally can't use it on a nightly basis, and won't be able to utilize it in the warmer months (as our home doesn't have air conditioning.) This is disappointing, given the amount of $$$ I invested in it. However, the product itself is excellent, and I would definitely recommend it! Hope this was helpful!

As other reviewers have attested, it is a well made blanket that feels like a hug. As a child, I loved the heavy feel of multiple blankets. As I’m a horribly light sleeper, I thought perhaps this blanket would help. The quality of the material impressed me. It really is a decent sized blanket. The duvet cover has a pleasant tactile feel and makes the blanket, combined with the well distributed weight blanket, like a warm hug...until about two hours later. Then it is the roasting fires of hell hot. The vendor kindly reached out to me after the purchase and suggested, “ lowering the temperature in your bedroom if you are a hot sleeper.” Hmmmm... so I went to BBBY to buy a very thin duvet. This seems to have solved the problem. A bit disappointed that a thinner duvet isn’t offered. There is something about the fluffier material used on the original duvet that is too hot to sleep with for me. I normally sleep with two blankets.

The first night I had it over me length wise with a double fold over my chest and I felt smothered and thought about returning it. The second night I laid it the other way and as a 23 yr chronic insomniac I’ve been sleeping better and longer. I’m keeping it.

I got the large size for the purpose of covering the whole bed. I didn't consider however that the blanket would need to be folded over to be the whole 12lbs. Also, the weight doesn't seem to be evenly distributed and needs constant adjustment. Be aware, underneath this blanket gets hot hot hot.I do love the concept however, and folded over and evenly weighted it does its job.I may look into getting another that can go on top for the added weight without folding it over, as well as one where thew weight is even.

Bought for a family member who suffers from panic attacks. They called after one night and said this was the first night they slept all the way thru. Made me so happy! What a relief to find a product that brought some relief to someone who is simuffering. Highly recommend.

I've been wanting a weighted blanket for awhile, but hesitated because of the cost. But recently I've been diagnosed with cancer and haven't been sleeping well and I decided to go ahead and make the purchase. Have had it for only 3 days but have already had the best 3 nights of sleep I've had in a long while. I'm even dreaming, which I don't remember doing in ages! The blanket came quickly and in perfect condition. It is soft and comfy. If you are considering this purchase, don't delay. It is worth every penny. My only regret? That I waited so long to buy it.

My wife and I love the weight of this blanket! It is VERY warm. It keeps all the covers nestled snugly around you. Great for cool fall and cold winter nights!
