14 months, still working well
I bought the Maxx-40 as a portable option, with the thought of charging at RV sites for longer trips. I have not actually done that; all charging has been at home. I built a simple "L" shaped wooden stand for it, so I could easily move it in and out of the house (pictured, intended to be a quick prototype but I have yet to create a more refined final version). I picked the Maxx-40 because of its price, good reviews, and a pretty compact design with a 25' reach.I've used it for about 8000 miles of charging in 14 months (so roughly 2 kW-hr of battery charge total) and it has worked great. Less convenient than a permanently mounted outside charger, but not a lot. And with the 240v outlet and the portable charger, I feel like I have lots of future options (circuit is 50A rated, for example, to accommodate a possible future EV with higher amp requirements than my Bolt's 32A).Only star deduction is for an initial QA issue. The product is advertised as weatherproof for outdoor use. This is achieved with rubber grommets on the controller box where the cables pass in and out. When I received the product, the rubber casing on one of the cables had pulled out of the grommet leaving the enclosed wires exposed and a gap at the grommet going into the case. I shipped it back to the vendor, they repaired it (and explained the repair to me), and got it back to me in less than a week. This was part of the rationale for making the stand; to minimize unnecessary flexing and pulling on the cables in day to day home use. I don't think it is delicate, but most things last longer if you take care of them.

Works... but! Check the plug & your panel, plus wiring!
We had to replace the entire plug assembly after it stopped working and melted as has been mentioned on other reviews. That was last year... (see new socket in the 3rd pic attached) This year... the 50A panel breaker was replaced once in April and needs to be replaced again. It looks like we really need a new electrical panel. Ours from 1967 can't handle the load with 2 EV's (One 240 & One 120V) and Solar.Attached is a picture of what happened to the replacement breaker from April 2020. Yes, it was new just over 4 months ago. EV's are great, but make sure your house panel can support your needs. This was a terrifying discovery this morning. Make sure to consult with a qualified electrician before simply using an old 230V electric dryer circuit!I would like to reduce the power draw on this unit to help prevent this from happening again. I don't think that's possible. It's charging a Chevy Bolt every night for my brother who drives for Uber et al (200 miles a day typically).Update: 7/21/21 - The repaired plug still works fine and we have a Volvo electric now. We did replace our entire electrical panel so it's all working great. The Volvo also has a current limiter but no charge scheduler and I don't see a way to do it from this charge cable/controller. Maybe there's a 240V timer we could use...

This was the best "bang-for-the-buck" in Level 2 chargers that I could find
This was the best "bang-for-the-buck" in Level 2 chargers that I could find. I haven't been disappointed and would highly recommend over some of the other more complicated (overly complicated) chargers. My car allows me to program my charge times, so I don't need a box to do it. I just plug it in, the display tells me how long it has charged and kW used, and my car does the rest. The longer cord has really come in handy too since my charging station plug is centrally located, it allows me to easily go to either side of the garage to plug in. The material quality and it didn't say on the website but it is UL Listed! That is a selling point for some so you should purchase with confidence. It's a great buy!

Best EVSE value at this time.
Have been using this for several months. It does everything that it should. The display has some nice features, showing the time to charge, the instantaneous rate of charge in kw, and total kwh. There is memory for kwh and time until power is lost or a new charge is started. The only complaints I have is that some display values are small for older eyes, and the J1772 requires a bit more force to plug and unplug compared to other EVSEs I've used. I still give it 5 stars because it is a very good value, the compact size, and long cable. For the price, it exceeded my expectations.

Plan for the future !!!
As an owner of two EV's, I've learned that we EV owners are looking to what our next EV will require. The Maxx-40 Pro makes me feel confidant that no matter what the charging requirements of my next EV will be, I'll be ready. It will handle 40 amps & it is portable. You can be sure that I'll be able to charge my EV's faster...no matter where I choose to do it!

Ordered this and it has worked great.
Ordered this and it has worked great. I have learned that you cannot depend on Nissan chargers at the dealers. They know nothing about them. It has been working now for 2 days and is so much faster than the 110V that comes with the car. All the screws, clips etc. needed to install it are included. I did have some issue with the mounting tab that is behind the large cord for hanging the box with the lights. Difficult to get a screw in it for mounting.

Latching to car
The charging cord works perfectly, I have just one concern, the latch that attached to the charger outlet in the car appears to be plastic. If this is so I worry that it may break making the charging cord useless.

Good Buy
Simple elegance that works. No need to mess with your phone or log onto the internet, this baby is plug and play simple and gives you 240 watt 40 amp speed at a good price.
